[ Against all odds, Dorian feels that he's getting the hang of things now.

There are still some things that unsettle him a bit, though; he avoids mirrors and reflective surfaces as often as he can, so he wouldn't have to see the gleaming black that his eyes have become. And the constant dripping down his face no longer seems to be his blood, but a dark ooze that comes from the crown itself. He hasn't entirely gotten used to the feeling, and he's not entirely sure he ever will, but he's found that it can be useful, with some effort. Even more than that, though, was the power itself, a constant thrum through his body that's far stronger than any magic he'd had as just a bard.

He had expected that, of course. It was why he had put the crown on in the first place; to have the power to save Dariax and Opal's sister from Myr'atta, because he had been too weak to do anything on his own. Just as the Spider Queen had been telling him.

That had been weeks ago, though, and with the Spider Queen's help he's finding that he's able to control the power a bit more. It does still require practice, of course, which is what he does every morning; slipping away from the space he shares with the others in Byroden, where they had returned to recover after everything. And he knows that his friends are a bit worried about him, but that's all the more reason to get this under control.

He had to make sure that he'd be able to keep them all safe. ]

[More than a bit worried. Orym doesn't trust that crown, doesn't understand it entirely, but knows that there's a darkness to it. It doesn't help that anytime he ever tried to touch it, his stomach tried to violently exit his body through his throat. But whether he likes it or not, it's currently a part of Dorian.

And as much as Orym dislikes the circlet, he cares for Dorian far, far more. He's been watching him closely, trying to make sure he's still himself, still well, not suffering under whatever bond he has with the crown.

When Dorian tries to slip out, he's not quite subtle enough to escape Orym's notice. The halfling glances around once at the others, all occupied with their own doings, and without a word slips out after the bard. He moves as quietly as he can, trying to stay unnoticed for the time being, not quite ready to announce his presence just yet.]
