He still blames himself, so it's a little surprising to hear an apology from his dearest friend's lips. He manages a weak smile as he turns in the direction Zichen's voice is coming from. ]

(( I like the idea of them just kinda incidentally running into each other on the job (maybe they're defending the same spirit? it could even be a case of them defending the opposite party to their client for extra Complications).

We can even tack on a School Option—maybe the two met in Kaito's college years and actually hit it off? This was the era where he was most open to dating and having flings as he was coming into his sexual comfort zone. Then perhaps they don't see each other for several years again until they bump into each other on the job. It could allow for both gen and fluffy things (and most importantly, a Lot of teasing from Hiroe's side lmao)

Secret identity is up in the air, but if she's able to keep it a secret for all those years then Kaito has likely been suspicious for a while, as he's pretty in tune to peoples' true nature/forms by way of reading their auras. So I don't mind either way! ))
