Not to offend, but from an alien perspective, you're all Midgardians. Or Terrans, I suppose, depending on terminology. Someone from a drastically different world will still look at the lot of you and have trouble distinguishing humans from mutants until you open your mouth or do something impressive.
Technically, you don't have to live on this planet, at least not as individuals. It will be the cradle for your kind; mutants will still be born here, but you could go elsewhere. But everywhere you go that's already inhabited, there will be friction and prejudice. That's just how sapient species are, with very few exceptions.
I don't envy your position, either way. I do recommend against trying to forcibly take over the planet, though, for whatever that's worth. I didn't have a good time.
