They have been walking for five days now. Spending the nights at farms; in barns in the hay, largely unnoticed. As is preferable, surely. They're waiting for the cold wind to pass, the aftershocks of Jean Louis'... death. They're waiting for the world to settle, once more. Around them. It will require time and time they shall make, seeing how they have little else at their disposal.

She walks behind him, two steps apart. Throughout the day he's little but the breath of a back and the silver shine of his hair. Like now, as they follow a muddy road up into the mountains. She does not know where they are going, neither has she considered asking. It doesn't matter. So long as it's a place far away. Yet, something about the way he moves - so concentrated, makes her falter, first. Then, a halt.

"Silver." His name is not, but her voice is. Inquiring. To a fault.

[Yukina is an ice demon/apparition from a race without men. Her kind reproduce asexually and live on a floating island away from everyone else. However, she's disavowed their way of life and left, criticizing them for being too cold.

He would not, perhaps could not, have answered a question of where with anything other than 'away'. Tunis had been a thought which had been quickly dismissed before being given much consideration. Tunis had been Ray's plan, after all, and there was little doubt in Silver's mind that those who still sought them would learn of it and go there.

"Yes," was all he replied, the word a mild question.

"There is a canal between England and the mainland," she comments. Flatly. It isn't so far away that they could never return and returning seems a promise she may not be able to make now, but can save for later. They are not without a background, either of them, Silver and her - they would do well in honouring it, once they have rebuild another life. Somewhere else. Perhaps in the Great Britain.

Although they're currently heading in the wrong direction.

The halt becomes a turn, as she looks over her shoulder. The way from which they came. Everything is quiet and dusk is falling all around them, bringing the evening dew with it. Her skin feeling slightly moist.

It rises up in him to ask her why she wants to go back the direction they came from, to ask if she doesn't comprehend that they are still being pursued. But he does not.

All he does is pause in his steps and turn to look at her. His dawn, his reason for going on after failing everyone else.

"England, huh."

It was, to be honest, as good a destination as any. It would let them rebuild something; it would let her rebuild something. He thought that was more important to her than it was to himself just now.

"We need a place for the night."

"Yes," she answers, with the simplicity a statement such as his requires. Another farm, another barn. Another loft of hay for them to sleep in. Any sense of eroticism stripped from their bones. She meets his eyes, doesn't avoid his gaze albeit it is piercing. He has been piercing through her from the beginning, destroying everything - but in order to reconstruct it. Her. She is a different person now, with him. Than with...

Swallowing thickly, she looks away once again. Up the mountain side. There's a vineyard further up, the yellow light from the windows of the house shining brightly in the darkness. She purses her lips. They will be moving forward, but there is another day tomorrow.

"Silver. Look." She merely raises her chin in indication of direction.
