TYPES OF SCENES
① Action → Gun fights, bar brawls, fights to the death are all possible scenarios.
② Angst → Characters suffer emotionally or physically from relationships breaking up, death, injury, etc. Hurt and comfort themes are included.
③ Crack → Genderswaps, super powers, sudden compulsions are all possible outcomes.
④ Fluff → Something that is devoid of angst. It's light-hearted and might have the overtone of romance.
⑤ Gen → General fun, things that didn't fit in the other categories.
⑥ Sex → First times, kinks, even dubcon are all possible themes of sex related scenarios.

ANGST.

Some time ago, it would've been a surprise to her that when she finally gets an injury that throws her out of the Robin game for a long time, it's as Tim Drake-Wayne, not Robin. But then, she guesses being a teenage CEO of an insanely-profitable company made her a target enough on its own without dipping her toes into the world of uncovering police corruption.

She's hurting, and she's pissed, and yeah, her prognosis isn't terrible - with a lot of work, she'll likely regain full use of her legs - but between physical therapy and regaining Robin-level abilities, she's looking at far too long before she can put on the cape again. And in the meantime, she feels like shit. She threw a lamp at Bruce and yelled at Barbara for trying to talk to her, even though logically Barbara should be the person she should turn to for advice on how to adjust to this. And yes, intellectually she knows that this isn't an uncommon thing to go through, but she'd appreciate it if she could just skip it all.

She's definitely having a The Entire World Can Fuck Off day when she hears a courtesy knock on her bedroom door and doesn't bother looking up. "Get out, Bruce."

Despite what some might think, Jason was capable of self-control and patience. To him, he had exercised remarkable restraint in not going after the bastards who tried to assassinate Tim. It was much more restraint than they ever deserved. He stopped himself only because it would put more stress on his family during an already strained time. The others would already be on the case and he knows that Tim wouldn't like him acting on her behalf without her consent. She still didn't agree with him that some villains deserve to die.

So Jason tried to focus on just being grateful that Tim's still alive and will eventually make a full recovery. He knows that their family's big enough that there are plenty of people who'll try to hover over her. Knowing Tim, Jason figured that what she needs is some personal space as she recovers. She doesn't need her second oldest brother to motherhen her. He knows she's independent. So he tried to be patient.

After a while though, Jason couldn't help but be concerned. She had barely spoken to him since the shooting and what little she had said seemed like very clipped responses. Like she just wanted to everyone to fuck off while she stewed in her trauma and anger. Knowing how fiercely independent Tim could be, Jason now wonders what she really needs. Everyone reacts differently to trauma after all.

So he comes to visit Tim. After politely knocking on her bedroom door, Jason isn't surprised nor hurt when Tim says "get out, Bruce."

"Now I'm just insulted," Jason replies casually, not opening the door yet. He isn't sure yet if she would want to talk to him any more than she would want to talk to the others.

She seriously considers telling him to go away, too, but a part of her can't help but be curious if talking to him is going to be any less frustrating than talking to the rest of her family right now, and that's at least a different emotion than stew of anger/pain/fucked-up bad that she's been feeling lately, so. She guesses it's worth seeing him. She can always throw him out later. "Okay," she says, which is about as close to "come in" as he's going to get.

When she gave her one, fuck you I'm still alive public speech after being shot, she used the braces and crutches, but for the most part she's been rolling around in a wheelchair at home because walking really hurts right now and she needs to conserve her energy for throwing tantrums at Bruce, so. She's not getting up to talk to him.

Internally, Jason's relieved when Tim gives him permission to come in. Sometimes he wonders if her sense of independence occasionally backfires on her by isolating her too much. As he opens the door and walks in, his internal relief shifts into a pang of hurt and anger seeing her in a wheelchair. But he keeps his expression neutral while also being thankful for being trained on controlling his facial expressions and body language.

Seeing Tim in her current state reminds him too much of when he first saw Barbara not long after she was shot. But Jason reminds himself this isn't permanent and right now, Tim doesn't need pity. Well, he's not sure what she needs but isolation didn't seem like the answer.

"Hey," he simply says as he shuts the door behind him.

Someone attached a little Robin charm to the one of the handles of her wheelchair, and it spins as she turns a bit to face him. She's nowhere near Babs' skill level, but she's been working on maneuvering it easily. "What do you want?"

"Just wanted to see how've you been," Jason replies honestly, well aware she might snap at him for asking a stupid question. "Who gave the trinket?"

The charm is cute but Jason wonders if it was a good idea to give it to her. It could just remind her of what she can't do for now.

"Steph." It's probably the only person she would've accepted it from. From anyone else, it would feel like pity, or an insult, or any number of shitty reactions. From Steph, it's like an in-joke. It's easier to look at.

Admittedly, sometimes she stuffs it into a drawer so she doesn't look at it. Life sucks.

Again, Jason's relieved. Stephanie's close to Tim so it makes sense it was from her.

"Cute," he says. "Been in here all day?"

Jason couldn't say he completely understands Tim's current state but it wasn't hard to imagine her just wanting to lock herself in her room to stew and brood.

"I'm recovering from an injury," she points out, more icy than before. Because if she wants to stay in her own room all day while recovering from being shot, she thinks she should be allowed.

Having anticipated that kind of response, Jason doesn't flinch.

"Bored yet?" He asks.

“Bruce locked me out of case files,” she admits, which is to say: yes, absolutely, when she’s not going nuts from the emotional trauma.

Jason rolls his eyes. How typical of Bruce. He could understand him being concerned with Tim overworking herself again and not focus on recovery but a total lockdown is asking for trouble.

"Well that's useful of him," he says sarcastically. "Want me to sneak in anything for you?"

Well, that... actually gets her to perk up. A little, at least. Enough to rattle off a list of seven or so cases, ending with "if you get them to me on a flash drive, I can hide them on my laptop."

"Deal," Jason says with ease. "It might take some time but I can make copies."

Judging by how Tim perked up a little, Jason now has a better idea on how to help her. She needs something to pull her mind away from trauma and into something that makes her anything but helpless. Just sitting around and stewing isn't her style.

Well.

That's... unexpected. In a good way, she thinks. Since she got back from the hospital, it's been all Tim, you need to rest and Tim, don't worry about that right now. But what is she, if not the person who handles things like that? Who is she to this family? "Thank you."

"Anytime," Jason says with a small smile. "This is a temporary setback and you can still do stuff. Bruce is a dumbass for thinking otherwise."

"He thinks I'm not okay."

And she isn't, she knows that. But still. She can help.

"He's not wrong about that but having your mind constantly dwell on what happened doesn't help," Jason replies calmly.

He was speaking from experience and internally, he knows he's still struggling to cope with his own trauma.

"That's not exactly a choice at this point."

Seeing as how. She was shot.

"I know. But what Bruce did probably doesn't help either," Jason says. Granted, he's speaking from a very biased point of view.

"Mm." He's not wrong, though a part of her wonders if Bruce was right. Not because working on cases would be bad for her, but if she's unable to right now. But then, what's the harm?

"It's a balancing act I guess," Jason continues. "You're already a workaholic so suddenly going cold turkey on that is gonna drive you crazy. But it's not worth straining yourself either while you're supposed to be recovering."

Speaking from experience, Jason knows just repressing the feelings that come after a traumatic event doesn't help either. It's still something he's working on.

"I'm not that bad."

Yes, she is. But he might want to agree with her for now, to be nice.

"Your sleep schedule was pretty shitty," Jason calmly says.

This could lead to a fight but... well, it wouldn't be the worst move he's done.

"All our sleep schedules are terrible."

Not that hers is all that much better now.

"Yeah, seems like the only time I ever get a whole night's sleep is after I got my ass kicked. How's your sleep now?"

Jason has his suspicions but better to ask than to assume, right?

Terrible.

"Well, I have the good painkillers, so not bad."

Shockingly, the good painkillers don't prevent nightmares entirely.

"No worse than usual then?" Jason says. "That's reassuring. Any nightmares?"

Again, Jason has his suspicions and is merely speaking from his own traumatic experiences.

"That's none of your business," she snaps.

So. Yes. But she's not exactly in a good mental position to be denying it effectively.

It's a very delicate and awkward balance Jason's struggling to maintain. He wants to help somehow but he doesn't want to piss off Tim either.

"Sure. Want me to do anything else besides grabbing case files? Or just punch Bruce on the way out?"

"Would anything I say change that last one?"

She should definitely be telling Jason not to punch Bruce on the way out, but. She's not really feeling it right now.

"Depends on what you got to say," Jason says casually.

Whatever Bruce said to Tim was probably poorly thought out, regardless of his well-meaning intentions. Though they were now on better terms, Jason remained one of the the Bat-Family members most critical of Bruce and there were still plenty of times when Jason wanted to punch him.

She opens her mouth.

Shuts it.

It's not as if she hasn't thrown things at Bruce also. And Jason and Bruce are both adults, they can manage themselves. "Nothing."

"All right. Offer's always open. He deserves it anyway," Jason says, still keeping his tone casual.

[ Such simple words shouldn't have made him as angry as they did. An accusation of such betrayal shouldn't have been spoken so softly. So full of concern. It was never something that had occurred to him, yet that deeply insecure part of him whispers that it makes perfect sense.

Master Kenobi and Senator Amidala seem terribly close as of late. Perhaps closer than a Jedi should be?

Anakin had brushed the comment off, stating that they'd been friends for years, so of course they were close.. but the way the Chancellor had looked at him made that surety wilt. It was the look of surprise on his face, but his eyes had such sympathy it felt like ice shards had formed in his chest. Excusing himself after his meeting, he'd just left with no true destination in mind. He needed to decompress and think about things. There was already so much running through his mind, adding this very selfish concern seemed too much to bear.

He doesn't go back to her apartment until hours later- part of him anxious that if he were to go, he might find out that what the Chancellor said was true. He couldn't trust himself to react if that were the case. When he manages to walk inside, Padmé isn't immediately visible. He gives himself a moment to take a few steadying breaths. He can feel her presence, and it always has a soothing effect on him, but all it does is serve to irritate him in the moment.

He strides out onto the balcony. Maybe the night air would calm his nerves and soothe his anxious thoughts. The problem is that he can see them together in his mind. ]

[ It's strange for there to be no greeting - Anakin's energy is something she can feel as if she herself knew the Force, and was bound to him through it. Often it washes over her like a tide, fearsome and warm, made of a strength that is, for its ferocity, and had she not trusted his hands to be gentle, alarming. It is insistent and glowing, and never completely bridled; there is in it something animal and exuberant, especially when they have been long apart. And why should several hours not count as long apart? Often do the days feel like years.

He is late, later than usual, though she knows this should never come as a surprise, and she should never balk at it - he is a Jedi, and the universe is falling to desperate shambles. Of course he will at times be late, obligated to his duties as any honorable Jedi would be. Of course there will be times when she finds herself waiting, and of course there will be times when she must keep other company when he is kept away.

She thinks she can hear him return, but then thinks she must be wrong when he does not appear; there is only quiet, strangely tense. When she emerges from the bedroom, she pauses, spotting the shape of the man she has long been awaiting out on the balcony. She does not need to have an intimate mastery of the Force, or any knowledge of it at all, to feel the unspent aggression that radiates off of him. Puzzled, she comes forward, and once she is near, her own delight to have him back again overshadows that uncomfortable instinct that something is wrong.

What could be wrong? She slides two slim arms around his waist, fitting herself into the nook of his side where it seems she was made to fit. There is a smile in her voice, her body warming as if for the first time in several hours. ]

[ He listens to her approach, his steeled gaze locked on the Coruscant evening. The tension stays, even as she winds her arms around his middle and melds herself to him. They fit together like a puzzle, but it makes him wonder if he was only fooling himself. How had he not noticed earlier? How long had they been playing him for a fool?

More than betrayed, he feels stupid.

For something to have happened under his nose and to not have known? When he speaks, his voice is controlled and terse. ]

My meeting with the Chancellor ran late.

[ Not as late as the hour he arrived suggested, but he'd needed time to process things. Time hasn't eased the growing paranoia. Nor the seething jealousy lodged deep in his chest making it feel tight. ]

But we haven't done anything new, it's the same routine as usual.

Besides didn't you sleep in today, Zenitsu?

[ for like an hour, but you can finish a lot of things in an hour. ]

Same routine? Same routine?! That training hurt my entire body!! The muscles are sore and screaming for some nice rest!!

You woke up even before the sun showed its face!! I'd like to be in my comfy bed until the sun's up, thank you!!!

[ he jabs his finger at tanjiro's forehead ]

But waking up early means getting a lot of things done and getting a full night's sleep.

And sore muscles are a good sign! That means they're properly worked out.

[ zenitsu knows his friend does sleep because keen ears, but he also isn't sure because this is tanjiro we're talking about. ]

Zemo is thrumming with excitement while he waits in the safehouse he was left in. Eventually, they would have teammates join them, but he'd heard it on good word that James would be the first to arrive.

It seems Val isn't entirely heartless, or she thinks she can use their relationship later at some point. It doesn't matter, really. It doesn't even matter that he's been released from his cage like a dog, if it means that he gets a moment to reconnect with James.

He's trying to busy himself while he waits. There's tea brewed and he sits at the table, idly cleaning the gun he was allowed for this upcoming assignment while he waits. Something mindless to focus on so he isn't checking the door and the clock every few moments.

He can't ignore the weight of the band around his ankle--a physical reminder of the compromise he made to get to see Zemo again. Val would absolutely be able to exploit their relationship, but Bucky doesn't care right now.

He's as nervous as he is excited as he approaches the safehouse. He pauses at the door and takes a few deep breaths: four counts in and four counts out, like his therapist taught him. His hand trembles as he unlocks the door.

The door swings open slowly and he peeks around it tentatively. "Hi."

He thought about this moment a lot during their time apart. He imagined dramatic Hollywood kisses and throwing themselves into each other's arms. But now that he's reunited with his love, all he can manage is to say hi. A moment later, he at least manages to close and lock the door.

Zemo is to his feet the minute he hears the door open, smiling warmly when he sees Bucky standing there. The tentative hi is cute, of course. But it isn't all that he wants. He's moving forward, a hand outstretched to take the other's hand.

"James..."

He's moving in for that embrace. It's something that he has thought about far too long to not take the chance to make it a reality now.

It's a good thing Zemo is moving, because otherwise, there would have been more awkward freezing on Bucky's part. But feeling Zemo's hand against his and hearing the man say his name compels him into action.

"Helmut." He uses his grip on Zemo's hand to pull their bodies together. His arms slowly wrap around Zemo's body as his head rests on his shoulder--a gesture that says he's in no hurry to move. "I love you." It's a quiet, intimate mumble in Helmut's ear.

Something inside Zemo relaxes at that and his arms tighten instinctively around Bucky, pulling him in close as he can as he tucks his face in against his neck. "I love you as well," he murmurs.

It's an effort to pull away, but he does so far enough to meet the other man's eyes. "I've missed you, James."

"I've missed you, too." He leans back in, resting his forehead against Zemo's.

Something inside him breaks open, and he feels the tears sting his eyes. All the thinking and worrying he's done about if and when they'd see each other again and it's here now.

The sound that escapes him could best be described as a wail. It's a good thing no one else is here to hear it, though he wouldn't put it past Val to have the whole place rigged with cameras and mics. If Zemo doesn't that she might be watching them, neither does Bucky. He's gone these last months feeling like he's had a part of his soul ripped out of him. Now that they're reunited, Bucky clings to Zemo like he's trying to pull that part of his soul back into his body.

He doesn't care what Val sees. At the moment, the most important thing is James. He brings up a hand to rest against the back of his head, making a careful shushing noise at the crying as he holds him tighter. "I'm here, James..."

Finally. He has no idea how he'll leave once this assignment is over, once they're done and he has to return to the Raft, but he forces that thought to the back of his mind. Instead, he turns his head to press a kiss to the side of Bucky's face, soothing.

"Don't cry."

He allows himself a moment of...anger. 106 years without falling in love and now that he has, it's with someone he can't always be with physically. He wishes he could see the greater picture right now, but he just can't. Right now, he's mad at the painter.

"We've gotta play this right. Our next stretch apart could be shorter."

Or they could jump ship this time. Burn every bridge and spend the rest of their lives in hiding and on the run. He doesn't allow himself to entertain the idea, as tempting as it is right now. It would be the worst and stupidest option for both of them. Better to do what they can do within the confines of the game and have it possibly pay off later.

He dries his eyes before pulling back to look at Zemo. "Do you know how much alone time we've got?"

"I know," he murmurs, lets his eyes drift shut for a bit. Much as he hates playing into games set by others, Zemo knows the one thing that Val can truly use against him is Bucky. He hasn't anything else left to take, nothing that would hurt so much as the prospect of not seeing Bucky in person again...

He hates vulnerability, but he'd hate leaving Bucky to cry alone even more.

He slides a hand up to brush the side of his face when Bucky pulls away, sliding up to comb through his hair gently. "Until the morning."

Had he perhaps tested his luck by making a deal? Or are Walker and their other companions simply tied until then in other dealings? It hardly seems an important detail at the moment when there are more valuable ways to spend their time.

James doesn't need to know the answer to that question. As long as Zemo is being careful like he promised, the only thing that matters is that they get this time together.

Bucky nods, hands coming up to cup either side of Helmut's face. "Then let's make the most of it."

He briefly presses his lips to his lover's...but then decides they should probably address the elephant that may or may not be in the room before they go any further. "Val's prolly watching. You okay with giving her a show?"

"She shouldn't be watching if it would offend her sensibilities." He doesn't care at the moment. She knows about already, probably more than they even realize. It would be a shame to waste a moment they have together in person because of that, he thinks.

His hands slide to Bucky's waist, holding him close. "Are you okay, James?"

He doesn't want to make him feel uncomfortable -- and he's probably had enough people studying him, watching him to last a lifetime.
