Split personalities. Alter egos. Other selves.
Whatever you want to call it, there is another you in you. It could be good, bad, or neutral. It could come out often, or not often at all (or, perhaps even not often enough). And your control over it might vary, from being able to freely control your split selves - or not at all. And hell, who said there had to be just one?
Whatever the case may be?
All of a sudden.
You are not yourself.
HOW IT WORKS:
- Tag the meme, leaving your character name, fandom, and any preferences in the subject line.
- Other character tags you.
- You tag back, and use the random number generator to select from the following options, either for you or the person tagging you. Or don't, and do whatever strikes your fancy. If you roll something your character already is, either roll again, go for human, or pick something that otherwise suits your fancy.
- Other character reacts, or is free to also roll on the table
- Play out the results.
- Have fun, but respect the preferences of others.
- And, of course, there may be triggers in this meme. So be warned.
TYPES
1. Psychosis: Aah, the classic split personality. Disassociative personality disorder. Its all in your mind, this personality. Though of course your mind - being as broken as it is - has no problem switching personalities back and forth for whatever reason. Maybe its because personal trauma is being revisited. Maybe its 8:25. Or maybe you hear someone screaming for help...
2. Pea Soup: The other personality is due to possession of some kind. Alien, demonic, angelic, ancient, recent, robotic, item-based, ritual accident, it doesn't matter. You're sharing your body with someone else, whether you are/were willing to or not. Better hope your new co-inhabitant doesn't screw things up while you're out of commission in your head.
3. I Was Cleopatra: You had a past life of some kind, or the memories of your ancestors are embedded into your genetic code. Or maybe you lost your memories some time ago in a car accident. Whichever it was, said memory and personality has become strong enough to overtake your present personality. Now, you are the person/people you used to be.
4. Total Recall: Your memory and personality were artificially tampered with, whether or not you are aware of it. Obviously there was a reason for it, and whatever the reason was, your original personality - or is that the fake personality? - knows. Have fun trying to wrestle with which one of you is real and which one was implanted.
5. Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde: The split personality isn't just mental, spiritual, or psychological. You also change physically. Maybe its something as tiny as parting your hair differently. It could be something more momentous like being a different height or weight. Or maybe you even grow different appendages and change skin color. Either way - you don't just act different, you look different too.
6. Wild Card: Anything not on this list, or a combination of the above.
SCENARIOS
A.: You've just experienced your first brush with your other self. Ow, your head. What the hell happened last night?
B.: You're attempting to suppress your alter ego. Be it drugs, meditation, playing video games, whatever it takes to deprive that other self from surfacing.
C.:Someone you care for is about to find out about your split personality. Whether or not you want them to.
D.: You're on the run. And as your enemies close in, you realize the only way out of this is to let that other self take over...regardless of the consequences.
E.: It had to happen some time. And...now is that time. You need to confront your other self; it is a battle of the minds.
F.: Anything not on this list, or a combination of the above.
