There you are, minding your own business when you have to get on an elevator. Maybe you're on your way to work or home. Maybe you're out running errands. Maybe you're visiting someone or another various reason.

It's just a box that goes up and down until it doesn't. The elevator suddenly stops and now you're stuck. Uh oh.

How to play!

⬧ The options are endless! Is your character claustrophobic? Is the elevator in dire need of repairs or is it standard maintenance gone awry? Has the power gone out? Is it a trap? Any hanky-panky happening? What's going on?

{First time in an elevator and of course it gets stuck. He thought he was lucky to find one big enough to fit his 7+ foot tall frame. His tail sways behind with agitation. The firbolg sighs, sits down lotus style, and a tea set appears from seemingly thin air. Complete with two cups and a blanket.}

Sit with a kettle and the world will come to you. Would you like a cup?

[why did they have to go out together on this day? who knew something as mundane as taking an elevator would lead Osomatsu to such pain?

he stares ahead for a moment, at the closed doors, wondering if it's best to ignore Karamatsu. but he can't, really. he's not Todomatsu, you know?]

Jack in the box?

It starts as an ordinary elevator ride, music and all. And there's just the one passenger. Right up until the lights flicker, staying dimmed once they come back on to form a weak spotlight in the centre. The ride shudders like the skin of a bare arm when a sharp breeze passes, then comes to a complete spot.

It's hard to make out the second person's features, and they were surely there all along, their head disappearing into the shadows at the top of the elevator, outside of the range of the ring of light. Hands in their pocket, wearing a long black jacket with white scarf tips hanging into view.

"How... inconvenient," he says, his voice unusually softly spoken and smooth.

It doesn't make it comforting to hear, though.

[Jess travels in many an elevator during her day to day. To visit Trish or to snoop in a business. Police stations have file rooms. And hey, there's the elevator to her own place, so... pick an elevator in New York City that Jess might be stuck in with someone.]

[ Damn right he can't ignore him. Karamatsu shines bright no matter where they are, even if he's somewhat terrified. Okay, very terrified. Still, there's some comfort into Osomatsu's dumbass comment. Jack in the box? He wasn't even that hungry.

[that sounds like a lot of work, not gonna lie. also, the idea that Karamatsu is planning on saving the day is absolutely not how things are going to go. the guy is not a hero]

[Touristy places with an elevator, a mall? It can be pretty much anywhere in the world, since he'd have to visit some place specifically to even end up somewhere with an elevator. Olympus doesn't exactly need or have them...]

[ Lot of elevators in the FBI building, probably a bunch in the Harvard building where Walter's basement lab is, AND potentially anywhere that could be host to a fringe event! ]

[Well. That's just great. His mother had talked him into coming to one of her buildings with her in an attempt to get him out of the loft where he'd been moping for the greater part of the last week because he didn't have a case. His first time doing anything non-murder related in a while and what happens? The elevator gets stuck. As if his claustrophobia isn't bad enough.

Malcolm looks over at his mother and shoves his trembling hand to his side out of sight.]

I think I would like to have a word with your maintenance man here, mother. [The tone is dryly sarcastic but it's just an attempt to avoid the immediate jolt of illogical panic]

[Likely stuck in a service elevator at a Wayne Foundation fundraiser while overseeing the catering.]

[A profiler with severe claustrophobia and a heap of anxiety? Definitely the perfect elevator companion.]

Jessica has tagged along with Malcolm to the precinct for some unknown reason. He's not a fan of take your mother to work day, but she insisted. Malcolm is pretty sure that it has something to do with Gil, which he has been steadily avoiding thinking about. The two of them seem to have ended whatever they had going, but he's definitely not going to ask. It's way too Freudian and it freaks him out.

The get in the elevator and Malcolm pushes the button for the bullpen. "So what do you have to ask Gil about?" he questions as the doors close.

They nearly get to the right floor before the elevator lurches to a stop in between two of them. "Uh..." Malcolm starts frantically pushing the button, which does nothing of course. He can feel his panic starting to rise - and his stomach dropping the rest of the way down the elevator shaft.

So... uh...

[ Junpei pressed the open door button again... and again. Great, just great. They get called into a meeting slash get together with the rest of the 'Shadow Ops' team, he and Fuuka getting there early... ]

[ Only for the elevator to jam half way up the Kirijo building. Awesome ]

Dooon't suppose you know how to fix this, right Fuuka?

[ Elevators probably were more dangerous than messing with a computer guts, right? ]

[Well, this really puts the cherry on top of the shit sundae, doesn’t it? He’s already irritated that he has to be here today. Now, with a couple of vain attempts at hitting the “open doors” button under his belt, he can really only sum up the experience with an exhausted:]

You’ve got to be kidding me.

[He’s here to get a loan because his shitty car broke down again and he doesn’t make enough money to fix it. Naturally, he is none-too-pleased to be now stuck in an elevator after having to essentially grovel for money over a shitty credit score. Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Have fun!]

[Lots of eye rolling and slouching against the wall, but she doesn't seem overly bothered.]
