[So this is the mortal world. So much of it beyond his wildest imaginations. The tales Achilles told him of the world above, the grousing descriptions he managed to wring from Thanatos’ lips, they paled in comparison to the real thing. The surface world is amazing. And it’s not just Greece. He foolishly thought the city right outside the exit to the Underworld was the entire thing. No. So many more. Miles and miles, endless land and developments. Mortalkind has surely done well for itself. Spreading and proliferating and advancing.

While he doesn’t have the same ability to teleport and be anywhere he wants, Zagreus had managed to work out an… “agreement” with both Nyx, Goddess of the Night, and the River Styx itself (ironically). Blood and darkness. He never thought himself the “god of anything”, unlike the rest of his divine brethren. But perhaps… perhaps he had been wrong. At the moment, things are still developing. Figuring things out. But it’s enough that he can get around the world. Which is how he came to a place called China.

And how he came to meet a man named Xue Yang. Far different than the Grecian culture and people he was so used to being around. Chinese culture was—still is—a learning experience. But at least they do have some things in common. Apparently passions still run deep. Though they’re expressed differently. Something else to learn about in this new realm. Still, to hear the young man express that sort of notion to him? It was a surprise he hadn’t expected. They’d known each other for almost two months now, but… well, Zagreus is in no position to admonish him for something like that.

I admire that passion, but are you really in that dire a straight when I’m not around? I wouldn’t want to lose you to something like that.
