At least over the years he had learned to make those sleepless nights somewhat meditative. He got rest that way though it was never true sleep. As long as he was awake enough to protect everyone the next day it was fine.
It was ironic considering he could also sleep anywhere and in any position if he was tired enough. Beds were just... not good for sleep.
