Effie appreciates his being kind, and maybe she blushes a little at his compliment. She finds a little more strength in another sip of wine.

She shrugs with a thin smile before tapping at her ear. "If they're hearing? It's this. At least in my experience when they realize that they really can't communicate with me the way they want to off the bat, and they move on."

Her lips purse in thought. "It's happened a few times, and it's just really hard to want to really get out and try. It isn't that I wouldn't want to date someone within the deaf community. It's just that they seem to get swept off of their feet pretty quickly." Effie smiles. She's not bitter for that. She's always going to be happy if anyone meets someone and they're happy.

"So, I haven't really made it a priority, and I'm okay with that. It's just really nice to get that look once in a while. Tonight's been good." Dick is provided with a sweet smile, and Effie's simply wanting the rest of this night to go as well as it can, find who they're looking for, and carry on. Tomorrow's a whole other day and they'll go back to their respective lives.
