[The Yzma likeness is so startling that it makes Kronk jump. Gah! Just to come face to face with the much younger... uh. That lady. Forgot her name again but at least he didn't lose her like he lost Yzma.]

It was honestly the perfect sort of night. A nice summer evening, with just enough of a breeze to keep it from getting either hot or sticky. Nights like these came along once in a blue moon. For people like them, they came down almost never. Not just a night off, but a nice one, without even the vague possibility of a problem. Frankly, they'd been trying to hang out together for months, communicating by text and the occasional video chat.

Given their respective lives, both were very careful forms of communication.

So now, high atop the ferris wheel, she leaned her head on her hand, and sighed happily.

"Ugh, this is so nice. We haven't even been here that long and it already feels like a vacation. I missed this."

Some quiet downtime was hard to come by, especially after certain revelations that made it hard for Kitty and her friends at the institute to really relax. But she was determined to do so now, here where most people didn't know that particular detail about her.

Right now, she just wanted to hang out with her friend, like regular teenagers.

“Ugh, I know, right? It’s been way too long since we didn’t have to worry about some kind of crisis or something.”

[Yzma's long long lost daughter from hell. Who is seconds away from pulling her hair in frustration. Nope, he wasn't lost. They left him here on purpose. There's no way that someone could be like this and survive on their own.]

You probably should have worn pants instead of a skirt. But you look fine.

[And if it weren't for the grin and half-eaten funnel cake, he could maybe almost pass for intimidating, until he spoke.]

There's some powdered sugar on your shirt too.

She wasn't quite a teenager anymore, but she'd pretty much missed those years, training to be the Batgirl she was today. And what bound them together as friends more than anything was the understanding. Even when they couldn't speak of it, they both knew what it was like to be hunted, to try to do good despite adversity.

Even then, though, she'd admit that it was Kitty, even more than her, who needed this. So they could just be, tonight, acting like teens. Rather than the girl who had missed her teens - and the girl who was older than her years.

"Tonight? Our only crisis is determining whether or not to get cotton candy," she promised, looking down at the ground. And thinking about how nice it was to be watching from among people, and not from a rooftop, watchfully.

"So, we're starting relaxing, buuuut that doesn't mean it doesn't stay that way. What do you want to do next? Bumper cars? Figure out which games aren't crooked?"

Two of many fine options.

"Fuck!" Lydia's eyes widened as she looked into one particularly distorting mirror and saw things behind her. Things she knew were there - but that didn't mean that ghosts should be showing up in a hall of mirrors or anything other than enchanted mirrors. Something was going on here, and not just the normal cheaty carnival games that if anyone fell for it was their own fault. She glanced around trying to see if there was anyone else in this hall of mirrors and if any of the other mirrors were magical in the same way.

She poked her head back around the corner, looking for Lydia. She really should have been more disoriented in a mouse of mirrors, but given her line of work, it was a little bit underwhelming. Bruce had taught her some tricks that he had picked up with them.

But Lydia had been having fun, or so she thought.

"Hey, you ok?" she called, moving towards her.

She laughed a little. “A conundrum, to be sure.”

While they were at the top, they had a good view of the rest of the carnival. She took a look around, trying to find what they could do next.

“Honestly, maybe we should figure out that cotton candy thing sooner than later. I’m getting a bit hungry.”
