Cassian could count on one hand the number of good things that had happened to him - and that was being generous. But … tides were changing, and more battles were being won than lost and although moving bases constantly in order to stay one step ahead of the Empire was arduous, he felt cautiously positive for the first time in what felt like ages.
And - he was happy in his personal life. He still had moments of self-doubt, but every night that he got to fall asleep with Jyn by his side and every morning that he was able to wake up the exact same way helped calm those fears, even if they never truly disappeared.
Jyn was exceptionally good at keeping things close to her chest, so while Cassian could tell that something had changed, she hadn't yet confided in him what it was. Privately, he worried, but was confident in the knowledge that she would come to him and confide in him if need be.
It seemed like the U-wing always needed some repair or another, but he was grateful to have the time and opportunity to see to it himself. Despite being busy in the innards of the ship, Cassian heard Jyn's footsteps as she made her way through the hangar, and by the time she stepped into the U-wing and greeted him, he'd already poked his head up from the panel and brushed his hair out of his face, his expression curious.
"Hey", he replied, a slow, cautious smile spreading across his face. "What's up?"
