The Feeling DOMINANT Meme No matter what your usual preferences are, today, you're feeling dominant. This doesn't mean Dominant with a capital D as in the BDSM sense - unless that's what you're into. It simply means you want to take charge. Maybe you even want to be aggressive and possessive, or you just want to show what you want and when you want it. There could very well be some emotional desires behind this fancy, as well. This could be a complete change in your normal personality, an extension of what you're naturally like, or a normal but possibly unexplored part of you. It could even mean a spike in sexual interest, libido, or confidence if you're usually not the one to initiate. When Barry "recovers" from the state he was in after emerging from the Speed Force, he makes a trip to Star City to see his mentor. He knows it's been a long six months for his team, and he can only imagine how difficult it was for him. But he wants to reassure him. And himself, too.

He can't sleep, because when he closes his eyes he sees the swirling energy of the Speed Force, so it's late at night when he zips right into Oliver's apartment, looking a little disheveled. "Sorry, I didn't mean to just show up without any warning, I just...needed to see you. I'm back, hi."

Oliver is half out of bed, weapon in hand and every sense screaming into action at the sound in the living room. Then he sees and registers the shade of the lightning and the familiar long and lean lines of a speedster and the knife drops to the floor with a clatter. He crosses the room in broad strides before pulling Barry into his arms without a word.

Six months. Six months of missing him in silence, six months of wondering if Barry is another of the many losses he would simply have to live through and Oliver can hardly breathe through the relief.

Right. He should probably speak. "Hi."

Of course Oliver has a knife in his bedroom. He should have anticipated that. But Barry is pleasantly surprised when he hugs him instead of attacking him, and he returns the hug tightly.

"I really am sorry I didn't call or text or something first, it's just been...a lot. I wasn't exactly...in the right state of mind when I came out. But I'm okay now."

He's still hugging him, head resting against Oliver's shoulder. He doesn't want to let go.

A chuckle slips free as Barry rambles into his shoulder and Oliver's hand slips up to cup the back of his head and keep him close. He's barely dressed and holding Barry like his life depends on it but none of that matters right now. "Barry it's okay. It's okay. You're here now."

"Yeah, I am," Barry murmurs, breathing a sigh of relief when Oliver's hand slips up to hold him close. He hasn't been able to put into words how touch-starved he feels, but if anyone understands that, it would be Oliver.

"I should also tell you that ah...Iris moved on. It's okay, I told her to before I left...I didn't want her to be alone. But I guess now I am."

A soft sound at that because he knows what it's like to return home to find everything changed and life moving on without you. "I'm sorry Barry." And he is. Barry had really seemed happy with her, excited to be married and start a life with someone.

He can't hold him forever so Oliver reluctantly breaks the hug and starts steering him towards the kitchen, a hand lightly at the small of his back as he does so. "If you ran here, you're probably hungry aren't you?"

Barry doesn't protest being steered toward food, nodding. "I haven't eaten in awhile, so yeah, that would be nice. I was trying to get some sleep before I came here, but..." he trails off, suddenly finding the floor very interesting.

"Therapy." Because therapists specialize in heroes now? Oliver shakes his head and starts pulling a few things out of the kitchen and setting them on the counter. He steers Barry towards one of the stools in front of the kitchen island and pushes a glass of water in front of him.

"But you couldn't." He doesn't have to explain. The sort of lives they lead aren't easy ones and nightmares are as common as insomnia.

“That was pretty much my reaction,” Barry says with a chuckle. “I don’t even know where I’d start with that. I’m not sure anyone could really understand it who hasn’t been there.”

He settles in when seated, sipping the glass of water for a moment. It’s a nice feeling, letting Oliver take care of him like this. ”No, I couldn’t. I’m kind of afraid to,” he admits, quietly.

"I'm sure if someone wanted to specialize in vigilante mental health they'd have an immediately full practice," he offers with a quirked grin over his shoulder. Food is warming and he starts setting plates in front of Barry to pick and what he likes.

"It happens some nights." Some more than others. Oliver starts making cocoa, warming the milk and adding the sugar and chocolate for Barry. Something sweet that will help him wind down if not sleep. "Eat up, then you can put on something to watch, something to distract yourself until you do sleep." And Oliver will keep watch over him, keep him safe while he tries.

Barry laughs at that. "I have a whole team who could probably use someone other than me to listen to their problems. I try my best, I really do, but sometimes..." Sometimes he needs help, too, and he doesn't know how to ask for it. So he pretends he's fine.

He nods, working his way through the offered food quickly. He's not picky. "You don't mind, do you? I don't want to keep you up if you were trying to get some sleep." He gestures at his half-dressed state, and blushes a little.
