There was a sense of relief in the ancient man's gaze when Booker agreed. It wasn't that Marcus actually required the man's help with taking out the trash, but by agreeing to the job meant Booker was staying, at least for the duration. It meant other opportunities, maybe another meeting. A chance to know another person who may be the only one in this world who could understand his unique situation.
It gave Marcus an almost glimmer of hope towards... He didn't know what yet, not an end to his cursed existence, but maybe the loneliness.
"Yeah? Good..." He finished the last of his breakfast and reluctantly looked at the time. He didn't want to leave his new companion, but he didn't want to pressure the other immortal either. The guy was a baby comparably, and maybe Booker hadn't truly felt yet that hopeless desperation that had hollowed Marcus out so long ago. Insisting on anything might push him away.
"I should head out. Get ahead of the homicide case that's probably waiting on my desk... Keep in touch?"
