how?

01 induction. a comfortable place, a confident touch, and all the right words to take you under. deep breath in, deep breath out, just lie back for the plain flavor, no gimmicks or special powers involved.
02 the prop box. that's not enough? then how about a spinning spiral, or a swinging pocket watch, a coin or a candle, a flickering candle, that's right, just look at the flame, watch the flame closely, watch it dance in front of your eyes and relax, just relax...
03 simply powerful. deep and hypnotic eyes, a strong and commanding voice, their comforting and soothing touch; that person has more than talent - they have the power to bring you completely under their control, and there is no way to resist... at least not forever.
04 magic! a spell to control your body, a potion to command your mind, an artifact to destroy your will. you might have been enchanted, or even cursed. maybe it was an accident, a lesson gone wrong. whatever it was, it's time for a magical trance!
05 science! death rays are so last season, hypno rays are all the rage these days! and did you hear about that new drug that makes you 89% more suggestible to everything you're told? apparently they can even insert a chip into your brain and-- you know, why don't you see the miracle of science for yourself?

why?

01 therapy something you want to remember? something you'd like to forget? quit smoking, eat healthier, be the best you you can be. whatever your reason, whatever your method, your subconsciousness needs a spring cleaning to improve your life.
02 in good fun you're really looking forward to this! it's a show, it's a party, or maybe it's just the two of you trying something new. entertaining, relaxing, maybe even hot and steamy. kick back, and enjoy the experience.
03 part of the job the latest corporate drug, another monster preying on people's minds, the third alien artifact you dug up this week. you've run into this before, and you will run into it again. but maybe this time is different. maybe this time something went wrong...
04 part of a scheme you don't want this, but somebody else begs to differ. maybe it's as harmless as a prank to make you cluck like a chicken whenever they say your name. or maybe it's as bad as a plot to make you their obedient servant forever. only they know, but for better or worse, you're about to find out.
05 an accident a vacant stare into that magical mirror, blank faces after a gas leak, sparks flying in the wrong direction and suddenly you find yourself chanting 'yes, master' over and over again? looks like somebody was too careless. sure, nobody meant for this to happen, but it did, and now you have to deal with the side-effects.

what?

01 relaxation. all you want is to unwind, switch off, forget about your stress and worries for a while. close your eyes, you'll wake up feeling so refreshed. that is, unless somebody goes a little overboard with that happy and vacant smile...
02 transformation. bark like a dog. moo like a cow. put on this apron, you are the maid now. you're a robot, you're just a doll, you are the president of the world, an adorable baby, the perfect boyfriend- you are something or somebody you weren't before.
03 personality change. people don't change? we'll see about that! there must be some way to make you more assertive, less anxious, more honest, less unruly. maybe something could even change your evil ways! or your good ones, for that matter...
04 submission. this one is all about following commands. any commands. any commands. but do they just want to see you dance to their tune once, or will they wash, scrub and bleach your brain until it comes out blank and obedient forever?
05 seduction. maybe it's something sneaky to charm somebody you just met, maybe it's something sexy to spice up your relationship. whatever it is, whatever you do, it's trance time in the bedroom. and it would feel so amazing to take off your clothes for me, wouldn't it?
06 other. combine, change, roll again, or try something else entirely.

[ Koromaru is not at all an apt partner for the pretense of hypnosis, tilting his head inquisitive each time Ken's voice pitches just so. It's a miracle he's held still this long, even, leaves Ken thankful for whatever has him so preoccupied. It's a testament to his focus that he doesn't notice Minato there, spellbound. Being programmed with every word. ]

Second was... "I love my master. I will do anything to please him?" That sounds right. Maybe "I am in love with my master?"

[ Neither are things he particularly wants anyone hearing. That would just be embarrassing. Almost as embarrassing as the way Ken keeps swinging that coin back and forth, back and forth for his audience of two. ]

Last, "I will not remember being hypnotized, but I will always be my master's puppet." Then... [ He claps his hands. Oblivious to the hell he was wrought. ] Wake up?

[He registers every order, and the clap startles him right to full, nearly violent awareness. He's not really ready for it and stumbles into the wall with a startled noise.]

[He cradles his head, god, he feels so dizzy... What happened..?]

[ The sudden noise is finally enough to make Ken realise he has company here - which is an alarming thought, definitely enough to make him drop that coin as he turns to look behind him, eyes wide in alarm. Here's where Koromaru makes his exit, heading off downstairs to leave them, a boy who has no reason to believe in hypnosis and a boy who has no reason to believe he's been hypnotized. ]

Minato-san?! Are you okay? Are... How long have you been there?

[Minato blinks hard, trying to clear the fading dizziness from his mind. He feels kind of unsteady and strange in the back of his mind. He went to sleep and... Now he's awake?]

I... I'm alright, Ken-kun. [The buzzing is fading already. He smiles at him comfortingly.] I was... Probably sleepwalking. I'm ok.

[ That sigh of relief would be highly suspicious even at the best of times, but still, Ken's glad. Explaining his brief attempt at (playfully) hypnotizing a dog sounds like a disaster in the making, better that his heartrate's dropping to something a little less on the side of panic. Sleepwalking, though? If it were anyone else he'd assume he's being toyed with, but Minato-san... Well, him sleepwalking out of his room doesn't sound all that far-fetched.

Definitely more believable than Minato being programmed to serve and please his beloved master Ken however he can? ]

Then.. Maybe some coffee will help you wake up? I kinda want some too, to be honest. [ It's an innocuous comment. People who aren't obsessed with attending to Ken's needs have no reason to interpret it as "I order you to make us coffee." ]

[It was... Probably sleepwalking. Minato has a myriad of issues with his mind and health, and he really can't think of another explanation for 'went to sleep and woke up in the hallway', even though he's never sleepwalked before this... Maybe it's a new development?
He hopes not. He already has Pharos The Sleep Paralysis Social Link. He doesn't need more crazy shit...]

[The comment is innocuous, innocent almost, but Minato is suddenly filled with the overwhelming urge to do just that. It's Coffee Time.] Sure. I'll go make some.

Oh, that's great! [ Has Minato-san ever made him coffee before? Ken can't quite remember... Nor has he ever seen Minato so suddenly set to a task outside of Tartarus - which is, regardless, innocuous and not suspicious at all. This could be a long-term issue. ] I think everyone's out, so... Maybe we could have some snacks? I think there are a few good things on TV, too.

[ Like Featherman! Not like Ken would ever be so forward. Regardless, now seems like a good time to head downstairs for coffee, though not before Ken's picked that coin off the floor and shoved it away in his pocket. Just so no-one ever stumbles on his makeshift hypnotic pendulum. ] Have you ever sleepwalked before, Minato-san? What was it like?

[Snacks, TV... That sounds nice. He and Ken are on some kind of wavelength today, not that he's really bothered. He likes their youngest member, and he's good in a fight... Kinda like having a little brother... A sibling.
No, bad time to think about his past. Coffee, snacks, TV... What snacks does Ken want? It's suddenly very important that Ken Likes The Snacks, and as they're walking he's turning over the kitchen's contents in his head and almost misses the question.]

Oh... No, I don't think so. I've had a couple sleep paralysis episodes though, so it can't be that much different. [He gives a graceful shrug as they enter the kitchen and he goes to start the coffee] I mean, it wasn't too weird, just went to sleep in my bed and woke up in the hall. Something must've startled me awake.

[It occurs to him that he doesn't know Ken's favorite coffee and that same Ken Must Like The Snacks feeling overwhelms his thoughts for a minute, but he pays that no real mind. He's got weird obsessions with pleasing people anyways, even if those people happen to be ten year olds.] How do you like your coffee, Ken-kun?

Black, please! I'm too old to have it with milk anymore. [ Is the image Ken devotes his time to trying to sell, terrible as the experience has been on his taste buds. It's easy to find no fault in the diligence Minato shows in attending to his needs, not like that's anything new - he's reminded of that time they went to the movies together - and frankly the relief that his little hypnotism stunt went undiscovered has left him feeling just a little bit drained. That coffee's just what he needs.

Koromaru picks now to make his return, wandering into the kitchen with a certain concern. Probably wondering what happened to Minato, now he's no longer staring blankly ahead. Ken takes the time to drop down and deliver some much-deserved petting. Plus a few words that clearly are intended for Koro alone. ] Let's play fetch later, okay? You're a good dog.

[Black, okay. He can do black. The coffee is going smoothly and he chuckles at Ken's insistence that he's too old to have it with milk. Minato knows for a fact Mitsuru, for example, puts flavored cream in her coffee, but... Whatever Ken wants. He's still thinking about snacks, and around the time he's pouring Ken's coffee he remembers that... He himself doesn't like coffee.
His brain kinda glitches for a second. Coffee for them both? But Minato doesn't like coffee, so why did he..?]

[And then Ken's talking again and his brain immediately shorts out again and he barks.]

[ It's telling for how Ken's mind is elsewhere that he hasn't noticed this, how odd it is for Minato-san to be making coffee at all. And it's telling for how far gone Minato's mind is that the contradiction only sets in for him now, how very strong that need to please must be. Thankfully Ken is here to once more unwittingly speak out of turn, and in the middle of treating Koromaru to a belly rub murmurs: ]

Black coffee's great to drink, anyway. [ The dorm now has a new coffee-lover. Problem solved! Or it would be, if Koromaru hadn't somehow managed to bark without moving his mouth. And make the bark come from behind him. ] ... Minato-san?

[He's a good dog. What? Fetch? Coffee is good? Why did he ever think otherwise? Good dog?]

[His head hurts. He sets the coffee on the counter and holds his head, kinda lowering to his knees and curling up like... Well, like a dog does. He's a good dog, they'll play fetch later, he likes black coffee... But- His name is Minato? And he's got human hands and a human body and he's a dog??]

[What the hell???]

[ The perspective from the outside's likewise surreal, seeing Minato suddenly seized with the assurance he's a very good dog. Ken finds the presence of mind to back away when the other boy suddenly drops to the floor, looking... well, like someone doing a weak impression of Koromaru, to be honest. It's strange, it's bizarre, and Ken has absolutely no idea why it's happe...ning...

Oh. Oh no way. Only an absolute child would even consider the conclusion Ken just came to - but unfortunately Ken is indeed still a child, and he can't quite dismiss it. His voice shakes a little as he speaks. ]

Minato-san... Stop acting like a dog? And forget you did it?

[He immediately stops, and looks deeply confused, sitting up steadily and touching his head as his brow knits.
He's on the floor again..? Did he faint? He checks his hands and elbows for bruising, but no pain comes from either one... So he looks at Ken, kind of worried and thrown off now... And even more worried when he sees the concerned look on Ken's face]

I'm alright... [Jesus, does he need to go to the hospital?] I... I think I might've just passed out...

No, um... [ No way. No way - is the endless loop of which Ken's internal monologue is currently constructed. Is he really supposed to believe what he's seeing here? Is there any other explanation he can come up with? For now, at least, he forces himself into something closer to composed, and tests another suggestion. ] I think you shouldn't worry about passing out, or sleepwalking... Actually, you should just forget anything weird that's happened today, and focus on the coffee. ... And forget I said any of this.

[ It's not like he expects anything to happen! He just. Wants to see what Minato does before he makes any plans. ]

[His face goes blank for a moment and then he blinks little, like he's re-centering, and rises obediently to continue the coffee.]

[ Ken's silent after that, the time it takes newly minted coffee lover Minato (a command Ken will never realise he made, hence that one's sticking forever) to serve up two cups, made just the way Ken likes it. And now the way Minato likes it. Thank goodness he didn't pass any more of his personality on.

It's around the point where they've moved to the lounge, sipping at coffee between snacks (Ken's favourites) and watching Featherman (... he may have accidentally made Minato a fan) that Ken comes to a solution: he's being pranked! Minato-san saw him playing at hypnosis, hatched this scheme, and now he's pretending to have gone under to tease him. It doesn't sound at all like their leader, but... It makes way more sense than the alternative? So, all Ken need do is suggest something wild enough to make the other boy drop the act.

Thankfully, there's one classic command that always comes up with hypnosis. At least in some shows. ]

Minato-san? I'd really like it if you... ah. Acted like a chicken?

[Minato's mind has kind of fallen at peace with what's been happening, and he's contently watching Featherman with Ken while he sips. It's calm enough that his brain feels somewhere near proper and fine, despite strange gaps in his memory that he's trying not to think about, when Ken makes a request.]

[Minato's barely registered it before his brain shorts out again, his arms go to his sides in a terrible imitation of a chicken, and he bawks]

Wha...

[ Ken's expectations were simple, in short. A smirk, maybe the slightest chuckle, followed by some admission on Minato's part he's been fooling around. This thoroughly subverts said expectations, leaves Ken gaping as he watches Minato the chicken boy strut around the lounge between bawks. His brain's struggling to maintain the 'I make a ridiculous suggestion = Minato gives up' logic when Minato acts more like it's 'I make a ridiculous suggestion = Minato obeys because he wants to serve me.'

Clearly he's misjudged Minato-san's capacity for pranking! He won't lose just yet! ]

Th- then after this, do a pig impression! And a cow! And... and then a cat!

[There's a weird conflict inside of his brain that he can't really make sense of, when every time Ken orders him to do something he simply unthinkingly obeys. It's messing with ability to process whatever is going on, not that being able to process it would really help any more than what's happening now]

[He obeys though, a clean pig impression, then a cow, and then a cat, and that's where Ken kind of leaves him, meowing in confusion]
