still, you're not alone (find a ship meme)

One of the best parts about RP is finding ships you never knew you wanted. But sometimes it's hard finding exactly what you want, especially when you don't know the other canon (if it's crossover interaction) OR the other mun. Well, this meme takes away the pressure and biases brought around by unfamiliar names or icons. It strips shipping down to what it should be about: chemistry.

There are two ways to play on this meme. The first is the OOC route. The second is a more challenging, but perhaps more fun, route of having your character fill out a personal's ad. The best part? It's all anon at the start.

- Pick whether you want to fill out the OOC form or the IC form.

- For the IC version, feel free to assume your character was forced into it.
- Comment anonymously.
- Reply to others if you have a character who fits what they're looking for. You can stay anon for a few comments, but then you can pull a BIG REVEAL.
- For the OOC version, you can just offer your character. For the IC version, you might even want to "play" a bit before you un-anon.
- This is catered more towards crossover ships, but don't let that stop you if you want to do something canon. Also, friend"ships" are fine, too.
- If you both agree that it would be an interesting combination to play out, feel free to take it to another meme or play a scene here.
- Have respect. Be good.

SHORT DESCRIPTION OF YOUR CHARACTER: Remember, no names or other easy identifiers.
SHORT DESCRIPTION OF CHARACTERS SOUGHT: Don't ask for specific characters; rather, list character TYPES you/your character are interested in.
OTHER NOTES: Put anything else here, whatever that is.

DESCRIBE YOURSELF: Your character, of course, may lie about this.
LOOKING FOR: Friends, dating, etc.
WHAT YOU LOOK FOR IN A FRIEND/PARTNER: BIG BUTTS, NICE PERSONALITY.

SHORT DESCRIPTION OF YOUR CHARACTER: Bookish, socially awkward, mildly supernatural. A bit new to romance but willing to give it a strong shot if he finds the right person. Fond of poetry.
SHORT DESCRIPTION OF CHARACTERS SOUGHT: Someone equally intellectual and willing to put up with lengthy babbling about things that are deeply fascinating to him.
OTHER NOTES: All genders and species welcome, as long as it's sentient and adult.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-25 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
SHORT DESCRIPTION OF YOUR CHARACTER: Young homosexual adult with bad temper and violent tendencies. Not the easies guy to interact with.
SHORT DESCRIPTION OF CHARACTERS SOUGHT: Preferably a love interest who're up for long time tagging. You ought to be someone who can deal with bad mood swings. The type of character sought is someone who's laid back, caring, loyal, balanced and appreciate humor.
OTHER NOTES: Friendships welcome but as romance concerned only another man. The other character should also be 16+, preferable between 18-25.

SHORT DESCRIPTION OF YOUR CHARACTER: Sharp-tongued, cynical, unflinchingly brutal in combat, fond of knives, soft spot for children and mild loathing of nearly everyone else. Takes occasional vacations from reality that may or may not be coupled with mild violence. Perfect dating material right here.
SHORT DESCRIPTION OF CHARACTERS SOUGHT: Someone tolerant of all of the above. Not too sappy or naive, but someone who can be supportive without coddling her. Bonus points go to someone who can have her back in a fight.
OTHER NOTES: Actual sexuality is a no-go, she's got some issues there, but friends slipping into romantic friendship would be excellent.

She's totally being forced into this. Read with eyeroll.

DESCRIBE YOURSELF: Single Asian female. [What, she should write more? Oh fine.] City dweller, enjoys running, reading, watching baseball and meeting for coffee.
LOOKING FOR: Sex. [Damn him! She deleted that, right? Right.] Any relationship would have to start as a friendship first and develop from there.
WHAT YOU LOOK FOR IN A FRIEND/PARTNER: Conversation is very important. [*narrowed eyes* I know what you're thinking, don't you dare!]

(Anonymous) 2012-12-25 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
So I've got someone who's tolerant of violence and actively is violent, has a disliking toward virtually everyone that isn't a child or useful, and is supportive by way of complimenting combat abilities and having vague emotional understanding from a hellish background. Not a chance of sex without lots of development, so better suited for a friend or gen-romantic interest.

What do you mean it's not good dating material?

They sound like an intriguing match. Where are they on morality? Indiscriminate slaughter may be a dealbreaker.

DESCRIBE YOURSELF: Strong yet artistic, fond of the performing arts. I'm a romantic at heart and live in the moment, life's no fun without spontaneity.
LOOKING FOR: Friends, colleagues, dates, possibly more. I'm generally heteromantic but I could be flexible for someone exceptional.
WHAT YOU LOOK FOR IN A FRIEND/PARTNER: Open-minded, good dress sense, willing to break a few rules in the name of art and fun. Musical talent a plus, musical interest a must.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-26 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
I can't say he's a morally upstanding individual, but he's not a psychopath. He will deny the hell out of being any sort of good if you're willing to deal with a complex. Can say it's played straight and he's got a good reason to feel like he's not a great guy.

To be narrower to, he has no problem with shooting a person if they shoot back or are just terrible people to begin with. Killing them in cold blood takes more of a push, say prostitution rings and human trafficking. And he might enjoy violence a bit.

If he's down with murdering the heads of child prostitution rings, I'd say we've got ourselves a match.

SHORT DESCRIPTION OF YOUR CHARACTER: Female. Heterosexual. Prone to dishonesty, but there's a valid reason for it. Loves cooking. Works in restaurants that don't check backgrounds or ask for IDs from their employees.

SHORT DESCRIPTION OF CHARACTERS SOUGHT: She likes her guys with a faint bit of an edge to them. The asshole that isn't an asshole around or to her. At least, not often. They must be able to call her on her BS because she's full of a lot of it. She has a lot she's hiding and it's going to take a persistent person to get her life story out of her. She'll keep that very vague.

OTHER NOTES: I like slowly built relationships. I don't like the immediate jump unless it seems like it's time for it. I also love plotting things. So...that's all and thanks in advance!

Why not drop on by and say that when I saw your ad, yours was the one that actually went out and caught my eye? I like the sound of you.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-26 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I have a cheerful, warm-hearted character who has canon experience dealing with high-strung and violent tempers. He isn't always the best at handling them, but he remains as loyal as a puppy even if he fails. Unfortunately he's also got the personality and maturity of a hyperactive puppy, so he's not exactly a grand catch himself.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-26 03:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd love to hear your sound in return. Tell me about yourself.

OOC version

(Anonymous) 2012-12-26 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Primarily looking for friendships here, but the character is not above friends-with-benefits relationships or borderline antagonism while working with (or sleeping with) another person.

SHORT DESCRIPTION OF YOUR CHARACTER: Male, attractive 40-something (at least in appearance; due to supernatural nature, he's considerably older). Tends to be cheerfully sarcastic and prone to dishonesty. He loves a good time, but when the proverbial shit hits the fan, he's capable of standing with the good guys.

SHORT DESCRIPTION OF CHARACTERS SOUGHT: Gender doesn't matter. Humans or supernatural beings are fine. He's very interested in creative types: artists, writers, poets. Someone who can accept him for being a bit morally grey while potentially being available to rein in his more reckless impulses would be ideal.

OTHER NOTES: I'm willing to work with any canon or media and I have no problem with OCs, so don't let that hold you back. Like I said above, I mostly just want some CR, but if you're interested in shipping, we can see what happens.

You got any age rage in mind for this ad? You sound pretty interesting to have as a friend.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-26 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, it's what's inside that counts, not on the outside. Romance is strictly over 18, but in friends I'll take all types.

Nerdy supernatural dude

(Anonymous) 2012-12-26 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I have a character who might fit, maybe?

He's not much of a talker and can listen as well as appreciate comfortable silences. Romantically inexperiences, socially awkward/clueless at times, very supernatural. Appreciates intelligence in many forms and has extensive theoretical knowledge as well. His patience for people who can't keep up intellectually sometimes runs a tad short, but he's overall got a lot of patience for people he grows to like. Non-human but inhabitating a human vessel (the host's soul has passed away). Technically genderless, but identifies as male due to the human body. Equal parts adorable and badass.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-26 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh, that seems like a fun pair. Mine's also non-human and pretty used to nontraditional people, he just wishes someone had as much fun studying it as he did. I'm good with friendship-becoming-romance or just flat-out friendship, my boy just really needs people he can nerd out with.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-26 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Seems pretty fair to me!

I fit a lot of what you're looking for, if I do say so myself. A sense of fashion, spontaneity, willingness to play a little fast and loose with the rules, interest in music... I'm working as a radio DJ right now. I'm mostly hosting, but I'm a big fan or remixes and putting together new stuff, too.

Sound good so far? Anything else you wanna know?

SHORT DESCRIPTION OF CHARACTER: Male, Late-Twenties, Early-thirties. Dealing with a long history of bullets, booze, and bad relationships.
Strong sense of justice slightly mottled by apathy and scotch. Just another man with nothing to lose, an affinity for firearms, and a sarcastic and cynical quip for just about any situation.

SHORT DESCRIPTION OF CHARACTERS SOUGHT: A Friend is ideal, but things could develop I'm sure. Must be understanding and sharp witted, skilled practitioner of sarcasm, cynicism, and familiar with irony. Sympathy is unnecessary and outside of special circumstances would be unwanted.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-26 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Other Notes: Cross Canon is A-okay. Het only for romance. Brace for unbearably long monologues.

One step at a time please... I prefer building a relationship over the insta-buddy routine.

you didn't see that

(Anonymous) 2012-12-26 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
So far you have my attention.

My current employment is...well, I do play fast and loose with the rules, but I'm no broke couch surfer. Just not strictly legal. Your thoughts on the theater? Ideal outings might include open-air concerts or no-name bands in clubs, as well as the occasional wilder night out.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-26 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps a fellow cynic with a vigilante streak and a noir theme? He's an older gentleman who could use a drinking buddy who won't go all pity streak over him. Also justice buddies might lead to communal crime-fighting?

(Anonymous) 2012-12-27 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
I have a woman here who is quick-witted, sharp tongued, sarcastic and cynical. She's seen much and been through much and always manages to get back on her feet somehow. While she is understanding and at critical times patient, 99% of the time she wouldn't give him sympathy even if he wanted it.
She'd dodge the bullets with him and pour all the booze down the sink if he needs her to.
