[It had been an uneventful day for Rey. For once, she wasn't rushing out the door to head to a meeting, or coming home feeling utterly exhausted. There weren't boxes scattered about, and her bed was finally put together. No air mattress for her.

Sometimes, it was hard to believe she was living in such a nice apartment, one that had a nice view of the city and it's many tall buildings. The lights from the buildings flashed and danced much like the stars, but so much closer. It was harder to believe she managed to get an engineering job out of school, one that was willing to pay for moving expenses and give her a fat pay check. She found an apartment, and agreed to stay there for at least six months...

But in doing so, she was leaving behind her old life. It was a life she was eager to get away from, but there was some nice moments. A romance that blossomed over time between her and her boss, Wolke. Someone she had a good working relationship with that turned into a good friendship and something more...and it hurt like hell to leave him behind. He took her to the airport, kissed her at the gate and told her she would do well.

Once she arrived on the other side of the country, in the city she would be calling home for six months, she tried to be strong and not let her emotions get the best of her. God, she had been a wreck that day, but held it together. They video chat, called, and texted frequently. Everyday was a challenge, but Rey knew it would be worth it.

And as far as she knew, she believed today was any other ordinary day. Granted, it was the day she was born, but she never celebrated her birthday anyway. She sat on her small couch, dressed in comfortable clothes and pulled out her phone to text Wolke.]
