The Master & Apprentice Meme

Apprenticeship is a system of training a new generation of practitioners in a particular craft or trade. An Apprentice learns new skills from a Master, usually an older professional in their field. A Master can be a mentor and a friend, or a harshly disciplining teacher, preparing their proteges to follow in their footsteps. A Master and Apprentice typically get to have lots of one on one time. Sometimes it takes time and patience to develop a special relationship amid the trials of leaning something new, but in time most good masters will pass down plenty of trade secrets and wisdom to prepare someone special to hone their young talents and follow in their footsteps!

How this meme works:

- Masters tag in first.
- Please include in your subject line Name and Trade/Skill or Secret Order you're training for.

So this'll end up looking like, for example:

Any skill can be taught, you don't have to be an official canon 'Master' of anything, you can offer to teach anything your character is willing (reluctantly or otherwise) to pass on.

Maybe undergoing a special rite of passage, well on your way to being a master yourself! Scenarios are up to you, no RNG here!

Sometimes she kind of hates John. Erin is staring at the murky water of Slaughter Swamp with disgust. John said they need something from it and Erin can actually breath underwater. She should have n e v e r told him that.

"But it smells super gross," she tries to cut in. This whole place actually is making her head swim. Erin understood how dangerous magic could be but in order to get back to her home Earth magic may be the only way for her.

"A friend of mine is down there," John replies not much sympathy in his tone. They are on a time table here and Nora had insisted he needed a student, so here was said student, "he'll be waiting to help you and guide you where you need to go." It had taken a lot to convince Alex to help, but he did owe John a few favors so there was that. "It's not going to be that bad squire I promise you."

Erin grits her teeth just a bit. Going under water just didn't sit well with her in this place. Her senses are going a bit haywire but she also doesn't know she might want to say something about it.

Sorry John but this one is just so used to holding it all in actually talking it out isn't likely to happen.

"Great. Send the teenage girl in with some.... Guy." She huffs at the situation. She really doesn't have much of a choice. The hope of finding a way home at the end of all this had been dangled in front of her. There's still that edge of fear still deep in her gut.

Some bad stuff had happened before she got properly spat out into the universe.

"It'll work. Right?" The fear is creeping in. Blind faith is scary. Especially with the damn static going off in the back of her head.

Guy wasn't how John would describe Alex but he didn't want to spook Erin more right now by explain what his friend actually was. She was spooked enough and they didn't really have time for details right now. "It has to," he says bluntly, "lot of people might get hurt if it doesn't."

Oddly Erin would have understood what Alex was if John just told her. Erin's best friend in her native reality is a bit of a superhero fan-boy so Erin herself has learned quite a bit of trivia just by listening. Osmosis is serious business when it comes to learning facts.

Erin clenches her jaw at what John says. Of course. She can't let people get hurt either. Erin still wakes up in the night choking down a scream from a half-remembered nightmare about her past. The idea of walking away goes against who she is. Besides that would mean possibly having to talk about her feelings or something. Erin would rather not kay, thanks.

"Remind me to carve a spear at some point. I was getting training to fight like an Atlantean."

She dives into the water quickly. Pushing back against her own fears and the weird magic sense that is telling her to run. Failure seems to not be an option.
