The Christmas Time Mall Meme

Welcome to your typical gitchy little department store. Wherever you are, wherever you've been, who cares! Welcome to the New York central mall, where everything's covered in lights and decorations and the tacky Christmas cheer is just overflowing out the doors and windows and even little children who ate too much candy waiting in line for a picture with Jolly Ol Santa Clause! You have options. Go shopping (I pity your sanity if you want to get into that holiday shopping madness). See Santa. Help the mall staff finish decorating. Or maybe you want to freak out the normies by flying and lighting things on fire or hitting the plastic reindeer with your psychic freaky powers. Whatever the case ...welcome to the mall!! Only 21 days before Christmas!!

what to do:
1. make a comment (blank or otherwise) with your character's name and canon in the subject. they're now in the mall (poor bastard or no depending) doing whatever. feel free to reply with a blank comment. totes cool, but it'll make better prompts if you give people a little something to start off of.
2. people respond with their characters meeting others inside the mall. you can do whatever you want. even fight. just be prepared to get your butt kicked by the department store Santas.
3. have fun!!

Rise always enjoyed shopping, but there was something about Christmas shopping that made her all the more enthusiastic. Being able to splurge on the people she cared about most made the crowds and the pushing and shoving and fighting to get to see anything worth the effort.

Of course, she had two secret weapons. The first was that even dressed down as she was, with her hair loose, there was still something familiar enough about her that people stopped to look twice, and that meant she could slip through while they were distracted. The second was that being small, she could push through into gaps that others couldn't.

Now, loaded down with bags, she made her way to the food court. Time for a drink, a sit down and time to go through and work out what she still had to buy.

[Koschei isn't very used to Earth and is only here on a day trip, dragged by his best friend. He's doing his best to not look like an awkward alien, though he looks the same as any other human.]

Koschei look at this place! [Theta, meanwhile, is thrilled, one hand wrapped tightly around Koschei's as he drags him through the mall.]

Look! Santa!!

I still don't understand who Santa is--- [He groans as he's tugged along, not exactly wanting to be here.]

[The groan makes him frown, and he stops, turning around to look at him.]

...Would you rather go home? [His voice is quiet and a little hurt.]

[Not that tone. Anything but that tone. He manages an awkward smile.] No, I'm fine, Thete. You know I just...don't get excited as you about things.

I don't want to...force you to be here with me.

[He glances over at the Santa] But I really want to talk to him!

Who is he?

Santa is sort of...Earth's Christmas legend. Every Christmas Eve, he loads his sleigh up with presents and delivers them to the house of every good boy and girl.

[Oh yes, he knows his Earth history.] ...Wouldn't you like to meet a legend?

I suppose. But what would a legend be doing in a place like this?

No idea! Let's go ask him.

[And he's tugging Koschei along with him to stand in line to meet Santa, bouncing a bit on his heels. There are only a few people in front of them, and Theta watches with interest.]

Oh look! They're taking photographs! [He laughs.] Look at this technology, Kosch. Isn't it brilliant? [Centuries behind their own, but that's what gets him all excited.]

[He's glancing around, still very confused, and he's not sure if he can call it brilliant. Theta's got an obsession with this planet, though.] It's...so old. I almost want to take some of these devices apart, see how they built them back in these days.

[He shrugs.] We could probably swipe one without someone noticing, if you really wanted to.

I think I will.

[He grins at him, but he's quickly distracted by the fact that it's their turn. He dashes up to the man in the costume, who greets them loudly] Theta! Koschei! Hello boys, enjoying your trip?

[Theta gawks for a few moments, open-mouthed.] You're a Time Lord!

That---how--you are a Time Lord! What is a Time Lord doing here? [This is more than a little suspicious.]

["Santa" grins, and pokes Theta in the chest.] Not just any Time Lord, I'm you.

[Theta's both shocked and thrilled.] I'm Santa Claus?!

[Now his head is really starting to hurt, and it isn't because of the drums. Now that he pays a bit more attention, yes, it's the same person. He can tell by just the feel of their minds.]

You're not supposed to interact with your other selves, you giant buffoon! [And of course, that's the concern.]

Awww. [He pouts at Koschei before turning back to his future self.] He's probably right though. I should go. But hang on a mo...Where's your Koschei?

[the Doctor's expression changes very quickly, but he does his best to cover it up.] Oh, you know him. Not very into the Christmas spirit. I tried to talk him into being Mrs. Claus once.

Excuse me?! Do I look like a girl to you? [He does notice that subtle, quick change of expression, though.]

[Santa just laughs and gives them both a gentle nudge.] Alright, get out of here you two.

Byyye! [Theta slips his hand into Koschei's again, waving his free one at his future self.]
