[ Buffy heard the screams instantly. She was out anyway, patrolling as usual, and the cemetery wasn't far from the park. The run was a short one, but she took it as fast as she could, leaping over fences and hedges and darting through trees. She had an ax in hand tonight instead of a simple stake, because she'd heard rumors of a particular species of demon roaming the town that needed beheading as opposite to a good old fashioned weapon through the heart.
What she came upon, though, wasn't a demon attack. It was a man. The same man she'd come across before, who was gone before she got the chance to really make sure he was put to justice. It wasn't her job to kill evil people. Human laws applied to humans, no matter how much she wished it weren't true. She didn't have a license to murder for justice. She wasn't a vigilante.
Her pace slowed as she approached, and she slowly lowered her axe. She was ready to use every method of fighting at her disposal to do what needed to be done, but she couldn't behead him. Again with the whole not a murderer thing. ]
Let her go, or I'll make you. You know how not pretty this can get.
actually laughed very loudly and unattractively irl
