[It wasn't that unusual for her to be solicited for advice when it came to weaponry, even from Naruto. Tenten was the resident expert among the group after all. And while his style leaned more towards close combat, it never hurt to expand your knowledge and cover all your bases!

In her humble opinion, anyway.

They'd sparred before in anime endingsbriefly and here and there, but usually with Team Gai as a whole, all of them equally testing their strength against each other and learning from the experience. Didn't get much better than honing your taijutsu against a Hyuuga, Lee, and a weapons mistress all at the same time.

But Naruto had specifically sought her out this time, first asking about the differences in kunai --does weight make a difference? what about extra prongs? do you really sharpen them every day, ya know?-- and not one to give up on an opportunity for an eager listener on her favorite subject she'd agreed.]

...Eh?

[He'd sought her out for a reason, and after a lot of deliberation, and discussion with a few, er, people - he'd decided that this was the best way to at least spend a little more time with her. Sakura had insisted that he make sure he actually liked Tenten at all before he started asking her out on a date.

Which left him where he was now, flat on his back with Tenten-- with Tenten-- Oh shit.]

[Scrambling away from her was made difficult, mostly thanks to the kunai pinning his jacket down to the floor at his waist.]

[Momentarily it was more important to hear whatever ridiculous excuse he might have instead of moving away. Not that... he could really run off anyway, she'd been in the middle of trying to teach him how to avoid such moves and not get pinned in the first place.

Good thing that lesson hadn't stuck yet, unless he was smart enough to henge into something small and make a break for it he was at her mercy.

One hand fisted the front of his shirt, gripping the material tightly and pulling. Shaking him a little, too. For good measure!]

[And then her breath caught, embarrassed indignation replaced with- Ah. She was still precariously settled over him, both of their movements only serving to make the initial reason for this outburst that much more obvious.

Not much could get Tenten to quiet down and end her tirades, but Naruto may have just found the best way to do so yet.]

[It hadn't really been his lack of skill that landed him in his current predicament, but from the moment she'd shed a layer or two before they'd started sparring properly he'd felt his concentration waver, and his mind-- well, it wandered to situations a little like the one he was in right then.

He shaking didn't help, and he drew a foot up against the floor to try and abate the sensation, but it did nothing - she'd probably be able to tell, too. Cheeks flushed he reached up to grab her arm in both hands, stilling her at least for a second.]

I-- Er...

[He what? Oh maaaaan, what was he supposed to say? "Oh, Sorry Tenten I just wanted to spar with you to see if I liked you as much as I thought I did-- wanna-- do stuff?" He shook his head and reached over desperately reaching for the kunai lodged in the floor at his side.]

Er-- should go, whoops! Forgot, Er-- Sai wanted to talk t'me about er-- stuff and-- uhm...

[Had he always- They'd sparred before. It wasn't completely out of the blue for Naruto to come to her, or the team, asking for advice or just to work out some frustration.

Frustration... Maybe it wasn't the kind from missions that had brought him to her door that afternoon.]

[Her eyes narrowed, Tenten leaning in further. Despite how... how... how he had a boner she still knew he wasn't the kind of guy to look for some casual hookup. Or something. Sure he was Jiraiya's student. And the creator of Sexy no Jutsu. And, uh. Well, there were probably some other notches against him if she really thought about it.

But Naruto was a good guy. He respected his friends. Awkward and an idiot he could be, and how flustered she was at their predicament, she still knew that.

And maybe it wasn't so bad, not being just one of the guys. A partner to improve your skills with.

Didn't mean she completely forgave him for being aroused at her prowess in weaponry, but a girl was allowed to be a little smug when she incited those sort of reactions.

Why did you really want to spar with me today? [Maybe it was just the thrill of fighting, a secondary reaction to bodily contact and sweating and an increased heart rate. She was on a team of guys, while it had never been quite this up close and personal she understood the sort of unwanted side effects from this type of exertion.

But if it was because of her... Her thigh pressed up a bit more firmly, curious about the reaction it would reward.]
