--okay, maybe that's a little over-dramatic. but it's not like trevor's life has ever gone great. in fact it's definitely shit until aqua shows up in it, whereupon he gets a break from everything being horrible long enough to get used to things being nice before they go to shit again.

which is about how their first life together went, as far as he remembers.

but like, this one is nice? they moved in together, and tied the knot, which is not something trevor ever thought he'd do, and aqua's brothers tolerate him, at least, so that's nice.

life is good, until it isn't.

trevor is not immune to having a drinking problem in this life, either: it's never going to go away, but he manages, and is functional, because he has a reason to be. however, he's stone-cold sober every time he drives them anywhere, because he just won't risk it. he's stupid, but he's not that stupid.

apparently it doesn't matter though since he's on the ball and level-headed when someone else rams into their car in the middle of an intersection. the car rolls, but they both have seatbelts, so it should be fine--

--but it's not, not really. trevor's mostly alright, with a gash that's never going to quite heal properly and a dislocated shoulder, but he gets patched up as soon as they hit the emergency room. the wound on his face looks worse than it is, and he remembers having a scar before in the same spot so it's almost funny, except that his vision is going to be kind of fucked up now, which he'll deal with emotionally later when he's not worried about her instead--or never. never sounds good.

the car rolling makes aqua hit her head though, and they're more concerned about the fact that she doesn't come to right away than anything else. trevor's supposed to be in his own bed (his bitching got them roomed together, somehow, so that's nice) but he's rail-straight in the chair next to her bed instead, still attached to his iv fluids and pain meds because when he tries to eat or drink anything he immediately barfs, which is super gross so he'd rather not.

he's tired, exhausted, and they're really waiting for her to wake up, and he's dozing a little but he'll perk up as soon as he hears any movement from her direction, eye not covered in a bandage focusing on her just in case she's waking up. ]
