It's easy to take for granted. Like children, we thought our mother would always be there.

[the bright moonlight reflected off the polished butts of the rifles as peggy left the armory that night after taking inventory. she took great care to close the heavy, steel door behind her firmly and lock up; the thump of the door echoed. even as dim canon shots lightly shook through the campgrounds, peggy couldn't help but think how beautiful and peaceful the night was. a clear and dazzling array of stars framed a moon so close and big, she felt she could simply reach out and touch it; a light perfume wafted through the air, and there was a slight chill in the air that only served to crisp and sharpen her senses to her surroundings.

turning on a heel for a leisure walk back to her tent, she let a rare, faint smile grace her lips. being in the army, one was expected to show only stoicism in the face of, well, everything; one wasn't supposed to show their emotions, their weaknesses. that went doubly so for women and especially one in a high position like peggy. when she spotted a large, dark figure at the edge of the clearing, her smile dropped, and so did her hand to her gun. it was late and silent enough that any shape would immediately be regarded with suspicion.

not wanting to risk losing it, quietly, she moved towards it, her hand on her gun for a quick draw. it was a great relief to her when she saw that it was steve and not a hydra soldier. the faint smile back on her lips, she stood at the head of the table, next to him;]

[When it was gone, it was the same for her. Her attention drifted from the moon that once held so much fascination for her to Hei, though her hand barely turned.]

[As the light slowly started to return, Yin didn't notice, at first.]

[ Running next to her would certainly have been within his ability, but he stays a little behind her on purpose so that he can watch her run. She is still a marvel to him, in all ways big and small, and he doubts that will ever really go away. ]

[August has read many a story with a scene like this. Two people outside, staring up at the stars, sharing a moment. It's often siblings, or a parent and child, and the fact that they're outside, staring at the stars, doesn't quite matter. What's important is the moment, the vast universe and two small blips, simultaneously infinite and unimportant.

He never got to have that moment as a child, but the image always stuck with him, thanks to those stories. It became part of his imagined idea of what a normal childhood was like in this world, with a parent and a child and maybe a sibling or two.

It was this imagined idea, this fiction of poetic normality that brought him out there with Henry, and then with Emma. He joins her on the blanket with a thermos of cocoa, courtesy of Granny, watching her for the moment, instead of the sky. The sky was always there, but Emma, Emma made this moment something worth having.]

You can't tell me you're not impressed.

Um...not yet. [Chihiro shifts, moving the telescope to afford him a new angle of the sky. His breath catches in surprise.] Oh, wait--

[He checks again, adjusts the telescope so what he's found is in the centre. Straightening up, he looks at Ryoji.] I think there's something... Have a look, Mochizuki-kun?

[Don't rely on his own judgement, nope.]

"I don't plan on leaving you either.." While Yeshua would have added that he hoped those plans didn't change, he didn't mention it. It would have brought down the mood, made them think about what could happen in the future.

For now, it was best just to look up at the stars, happy that they had escaped that Gnosis attack. "That they do..ah. Look, a shooting star!" Yeshua pointed to the falling star that was in the sky, hoping that Mary would see it.

Remembering that humans made wishes on them, Yeshua too, made a small wish on it.

She turns when he tugs, lightly following his lead to sit next to Hei. Her attention turns from the celestial scene to Hei, then. He never had to stop for her. Yin would have kept on walking if he preferred, so this act is duly noted.

It's been so long since she saw the moon, though, so not long after her face turns back to it.

His mind drifts, for a bit. Naturally, his thoughts turn to his sister, but it's short-lived. He forces his mind away from South America and to the present, and how grounded this companionship had driven him to be.

Of course, at times, it drove him a bit out of his mind, too.

When they're situated on top of the cliff his eager eyes do scan the surroundings, trying to figure out what her reason for bringing him here is even before she tells him.
