[ ah, yes, that had been the sound resonating in her ears - dulled by the emotional trauma and the survivalist stubbornness that demanded she face her problems and get over them like a bout of heartbreak; yes, that's what she was hearing - unrequited love. ]

[ it was supposed to be a thing that only existed in cheap books, a fictional storytelling device to tug on the heartstrings of wishy-washy teens that think things last forever or end happily. but pessimism is smart because you cannot be let down if you're already thinking on the lowest level. she'd thought she'd effectively squashed that plot device when they'd still been in school, and it being thrown in her face (not a complete blindsiding curveball - they'd danced, he'd held her, he gave her his jacket and cared enough to come out here with her - but still) again leaves an odd, tangible taste that demands to manifest in quiet questions. ]


Why?

[ because there needs to be reasons; listed alphabetically, in bullet format, times new roman, double spaced, headed properly and presented to her at the beginning of class. ]
