[For now, Ralph can pretend that things are back to normal, or at least better than they had been for years.
They had both changed during Felix's absence, but Ralph was feeling more like his old self now that his friend had miraculously returned. He hoped the same was true for Felix, though based on what he had seen of the other Space Marines and Calhoun, not to mention his own harrowing experience in Hero's Duty, he knew that the game couldn't have been easy on his old friend.
Ralph makes a face at Felix's description of the console characters' lives. He had never heard of such a thing, if it wasn't Felix telling him this, he would think it was some kind of joke or prank.]
How can they live like that?! Were there a lot of them? It just doesn't make any sense...
[Ralph hadn't had much occasion to smile during the long years after Felix vanished. He hadn't been this happy in ages, for once, he had regained a shred of hope. If Felix was back, things could only improve from there.
Maybe he could even pick up some sort of non-combat job in Hero's Duty. Though, if Felix could adapt to their way of life, then he could too. And he'd have Calhoun and Felix watching his back the whole time.
Either way, things were finally looking up for Ralph. Felix might not be able to fix their old game, but his appearance had fixed Ralph's mood. Even if he stayed homeless, he now had his best friend to hang out with after hours.
And maybe now that the whole crew was back in the arcade, they'd get lucky and their old game would be plugged back in. It was a long shot, but so had been the return of the original Hero's Duty.]
