Dystopian AU

Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past.

1. Stronghold - Inside the walls, we are safe. Outside the walls, there is only madness, desolation, and thirst. Everything you need is here. Mother protects us. Mother sees to all our needs. To defy or to question Mother is to put all our lives at risk.
2. Rebels against the Government - You know each other only by code names. You’ve met each other only within the safety of illegal, anonymous networks. You can only hope and trust that they are loyal to your cause, and that none of this is a trap.
3. Re-education - Once, you questioned. Once, you doubted. You know this, but you have learned of your folly. The Ludovico technique of aversion therapy is unparalleled at rehabilitating criminals. Traitors. So-called ‘free-thinkers’. You’re better now. Isn’t it wonderful, to be a productive and unquestioning member of society?
4. The Ministry of Culture - Art is lies, and lies are forbidden. Love is treachery, and treachery is forbidden. Sex is deviance, and deviance is punishable by death. History is regression, and regression is a crime. Music is rebellion, and rebellion is intolerable. Any citizens found in possession of deviant and false publications will be punished.
5. Population Control - Resources are finite. There are too many mouths to feed and not enough arable land. Which is why you have been chosen to be culled. Only the strongest, the smartest, and the most resourceful are needed in the new society. One person from your group will be permitted to survive and to return to society, richly rewarded. Everyone else must die. Weapons are right over there.

[OOC: Agent/spy from a nation outside the wall ruled by anarchistic principles (like in Aeon Flux - the cartoon, not the movie). Main objective is to recruit more followers in order to overthrow the totalitarian regime.

Scenarios:

1. playing a cat-and-mouse game with someone high-ranking in the government. Have known each other for years, don't see eye-to-eye, but haven't been able to kill the other one yet.

2. Your pup fell for her propaganda song of freedom and self-government and is one of her inside sources now.

3. She's on a mission to kill someone, your pup's either assisting or trying to stop her.]

[OOC: enforcer type (à la Altered Carbon CTAC officer, Equilibrium Cleric etc.); comfortable with his role and place in the world, might not fully buy into the propaganda but doesn't care enough to do anything against it.

What I'm interested in:

- Billy being a government agent infiltrating the Rebel operations
- Billy being exposed as a government agent, questioned and tortured
- Billy and fellow government enforcer on a mission for the Ministry of Culture
- Billy making nice with a free-thinker/rebellious element in order to get to the rebel puppet masters

Basically Billy, cold lizardboy that he is, is thriving in this kind of environment and has no interest in changing anything. Open to brainstorming, mixing/matching options.]

[The Project at Eden's Gate might try their hardest to stamp out the resistance in Hope County, and eventually the rest of Montana, but there will always be pockets of fighters around. People who used to respect Pratt as a Deputy and a force of the law. But not anymore.

They'd shoot him on sight if he got too close, and the cultists aren't exactly happy to have him around either. They're grudgingly not killing him because he's Jacob's pet, a human reduced to a tool. Treated like a dog and sicced on those who dare to go against Jacob's doctrine.

Pratt's spirit isn't broken, but it's close, he's tried to escape so many times that this last reprogramming in the chair was aggressive enough to even have Jacob slightly concerned he may have gone too far this time. Not that he cared, but he didn't want to break his toys before he was done using them.

Pratt is awkwardly standing far back behind the front lines of a small skirmish, looking like he might be trying to escape again. He's got plenty of opportunity, but something is keeping him there.]

[It's been a while.

Caedra hadn't seen Pratt rear his face again recently and took her last attempt at getting rid of him for good as having succeeded. She's been prowling about Earth since then, sticking her nose - and sword - into other's business. Instigating weapons deals, sowing suspicion and discord. Burying the seeds of conflict and laughing as they burst forth from the soil.

She'd like to say she had a hand in this one, but she didn't. She's lost interest in little rural communities, but as these battles have seemingly raged on and on, she thought she would swing by and see if she couldn't fan the flames. Make them grow and fester over neighboring settlements until the whole region ends up slaughtering themselves for her entertainment. And so while she hates the so-called Project and doesn't want them to succeed in their goals, she's here all the same in the guise of one of their leaders, issuing orders and making things up as she goes - because the Project is doing better than those silly little resistance fighters and if they continue to grow in strength, they may well be large enough to take on one of the forces outside this miserable state of Montana, and that will be a far more exciting battle with so many more casualties than these little scraps and shootouts.

She turns, disguised as an older man in uniform, and is about to shout orders at Pratt, who seems to be idling, when even she falters.]

What the hell are you doing? Get in there!

[She says as she recovers, but there's a bitter snarl on the old man's face, a long, black sword at his hip (surely, just in case he runs out of ammunition, right?) and for a brief moment her disguise nearly slips and those eyes set deep in that weathered face are just as black as the blade.]

[ imagine a world where the villains have taken over: maybe All Might didn't survive his first/second/etc fight with All For One, or maybe he did but the loss of the symbol of peace turned the world upside down. heroes (& students) are in hiding, and evil runs the show. maybe there's an underground resistance network a la Dumbledore's Army. feel free to throw any and all ideas at me! ]

[He doesn't even turn around, he knows that's not Jacob's voice. Trained to only listen to him he can recognize that voice even when asleep.]

[He's not sure what stupid Chosen would come harass him, and honestly he doesn't care. Turning from where he was looking off towards the treeline he glances back at the battle. His movements are jerky, like a marionette, someone who seems to have forgotten how to move and is relying solely on muscle memory. Not only that, but his hair has gone stark white in places, his temples, around his hairline and strands here and there throughout. His eyes are sunken and dark circles have made a home there permanently, only marred a little by the crusted blood around his eyelids.

Pratt is still wearing his deputy outfit but boy has it seen better days. The elbows are worn out, blood splatter everywhere to the point of making it stiff in places where it no longer folds. Only his badge is still pristine and shiny.]

You get in there. Jacob won't be pleased with you.

[His voice is low and gruff, and he laughs a little at the end, imagining what Jacob would do to someone he wasn't pleased with. Something awful he's sure.]

[Were she a succubus, Caedra would be more concerned about maintaining her cover. Would be far more subtle with her manipulations, though she's found that enough humans crave power where subtlety hardly matters until one reaches the upper tiers of their political powers. Here, on the ground, she can hand any idiot a gun and point at something and there's a good chance they'll be more than thrilled to shoot.

So when Pratt - awful, hated Pratt - talks back to her, she doesn't even pretend anymore. She drops the disguise and the uniform settles around her smaller shape. Let this be the day that Eden's Gate learned there was a supernatural creature in their midst. She can't actually give a shit right now as she takes the blade in hand, looking like she hasn't aged a day since their last meeting - down to the angry scowl on her face.]

Is this really how you want to spend today, Pratt?

[Yes, she certainly remembers the name, and her voice drips with acid on recalling it.]

[ He recognizes that voice. Oh yes, that one is familiar. He turns to look at her, his gaze looking through her rather than focusing. His eyes are so hugely dilated that is't a little hard to even tell what they color they were. ]

What are you doing here?

[He sounds strange, like he's talking with a mouthful of food. Shaking his head he looks over at the battle and then back at her, his eyes jerking around and unable to settle on any one thing for more than a second. A few chunks of his hair fall out when he moves, floating to the ground. Those white parts aren't naturally occurring. Stressed beyond belief from torture, being drugged and starvation his body is quite literally falling apart. ]

Oh he's gonna find you. He probably already knows you're here. Hears this. Us. He knows. And then what? Then then.. You may be whatever you are, but he's a Herald of the Father himself. You won't stand a chance.

[Pratt laughs and the reason for his slurry speech becomes apparent as all his teeth are slightly too large now and come to sharp points. His laughter is unhinged, manic, a reflex rather than an emotion.]

Now you're the weak one. But don't worry, the weak have their purpose.

[ooc: Could go either way as far as allegiances, but likely working for The Man. Deeply loyal to whatever master he's chosen to serve.]

[This is basically his canon already. He's with the Resistance either way, but whether The Man is human or machine is up to you.]

[1 and 5 are technically canon, but I'll take anything.]

[Give me whatever, though there's always going to be some level of rebellion going on.]

[5 is sorta canon, as is 1, and re-education is only technically what Ma-Ma did. He'd be a good rebellion ally, though, whatever the case.]

[Friendly, law-abiding neighborhood waitress, quietly passing along information to the underground.]

[If the occasional re-education or indoctrination of the new security recruits doesn't stick as well as it should, that can hardly be blamed on him, right?]
