He thought she had. For a split-second he saw it there in her eyes, and nothing could convince him otherwise. She'd started to think it true, and in the next moment she'd struck him and fled. Maybe that's why looking at her gave him this dizzy, airless feeling. Maybe that was just the fury, or it could have been how similar she looked to--

You know it. I know you do, how could you not? Every day the evidence piles higher, and every day you reject it as impossible. But it's not. You're just afraid.
