Cloud, who was wrapped in a bedsheet and playing a mobile phone game, didn't have to feign being in a pleasant mood when Ignis arrived. He looked up and smiled.
"That's good, at least. For their sakes." He set his phone aside. "It's going to look even creepier in good lighting."
Not to mention that the worst of the wounds had been obscured by Cloud's clothes. Sure, the whole group had seen him in much worse shape than this, but only during a heated battle. From a distance, it almost looked like Cloud was getting splattered with thick black ink when he got wounded. Bad enough for surface wounds which couldn't scab over, but the gashes just gaped open until healed.
Ignis hadn't yet seen the worst of Cloud's current wounds, the deep claw gouges in his midsection. At least the Nif bullet holes were a bit less gruesome, though the ragged black craters were plenty creepy in their own right.
