Arvaarads are responsible for controlling their Saarebas and keeping them from corruption, but my mother always mumbled in her sleep. My father didn't think she was making deals with demons, but they sewed her mouth shut anyway to discourage corruption. He ran away with her after that. He said that he could better serve his function in the Qun without anyone else making decisions for her but him, but he was in love. I think he just hated that she was being hurt and he couldn't protect her.

[She talks about it calmly. She understands that her parents' love story has a lot more gruesome details than most human love stories, but it's all she's ever known. It's normal to her.]
