[After the Accords, after the Raft, after all of it, they're all of them disasters, one way or another. Steve is wracked with guilt, Bucky is on ice, Sam is just trying to keep it together and failing. Scott and Clint can only last so long on the run before they call it quits, but who could blame them? Clint even offers to take Wanda with him, essentially to adopt her though without the papers, but she only considers it for a moment. That's a good life for someone, a farm, a family, but it's not a life for her. She owes Steve too much.

She owes herself too much.

Natasha comes and goes for a while, helping with jobs, staying for a night or two before disappearing, staying for a week or a month sometimes. These are the times Wanda likes best: she doesn't mind being the only girl (she's used to that) but it's nice not to be, and Natasha... Natasha teaches her things. How to live this life without dying. Natasha brings her out of her shell after the Raft (coaxes her voice out of hiding after weeks and weeks of trauma-induced silence, spars with her to remind her her powers can be used, treats her like a girl, a woman, and not a broken experiment) and sits beside her unafraid and it's exactly what she needs.

Maybe it's what both of them need.
