Derek can tell every time Gabriel didn't want to take off his clothes when he got hurt and wished he could patch him up without him having to strip so he was more comfortable but alas that was something that couldn't be possible. Gabriel's new scars never went unnoticed, that much was true, even though he wouldn't comment on them or make his knowledge of them obvious.
Those scars of his were the most heartbreaking and yet, one of the most beautiful things he's ever seen. The way the ones affected by silver were different than regular scars fascinated him.
He placed Gabriel's shirt where he had placed his jacket, quick to turn his attention elsewhere when he turned to grab an antiseptic wipe to clean off the dried and still fresh blood clinging to Gabriel's skin. He sat down on the stool, scooting himself closer, he wanted to comfort Gabriel but he thought it best once he was done patching him up.
"... The other two kids found a way to get themselves bitten so the oldest wouldn't be alone in this and well, you can imagine why there here too." He returned to his story as he gently cleaned Gabriel's wounds. "I didn't want them to stay on the streets like I did," he said quietly, Derek rarely talked about his past and often pretended that that part of his life was a horrible nightmare that never happened.
