reasons: to obtain property, to unite families, to carry on a bloodline,

POSSIBLE REASONS FOR MARRIAGE:
① Station → You come from a royal, noble, or otherwise distinguished family who has chosen a suitable spouse for you.
② Feud → You are being married to put an end to the bitter enmity between your two families.
③ Economics → Your economic state and/or your station will improve through the union, though one of you may be marrying down.
④ Empire → You and your spouse are merging your businesses and/or property to create something more influential or profitable.
⑤ Tribute → You have been offered as a gift or appeasement, alternately you're the spoils of war.
⑥ Bloodline → Carrying on your distinguished family name has fallen to you and the equally well-bred spouse of your family's selection.
⑦ Disapproval → Your marriage has been arranged to keep you away from the person with whom you truly wish to be.

Aside from arranged marriage shenanigans, I love assumed CR, crossovers (♥ ♥ ♥), convoluted scenarios, combustive attraction, bickering, first time, culture differences, ingenue/gruff, worldly man, inhuman characters, Beauty and the Beast dynamics because duh, fairy tale/fantasy settings, magic, passionate reunions, redoing first times that didn't go so well. sneaky trysts, risk of discovery, emotions spilling out in private, and much, much more.

Ridiculously into Tolkienverse (dwarves yes pls), ASOIAF/GOT, HP (my kingdom for a Newt Scamander or Lupin), and MCU right now and equally into AUing Belle to fit in any of them, but check out my slightly embarrassing dream list of shit I'd like to play. ]

He was one of my first ever RP characters, and recently I've been rewatching the series to prep for the super awesome movie coming out in December! Thought I'd take him out for a spin. It's very true, they're rare as all get-out but you can't really have one without the other!

Nope, no preferences! I'm sure we can make something out of whatever you roll. (: ]

(ooc: Yup! From the Heroes of Olympus series. Just a couple things of note that someone like Shawn is more likely to notice than the average mortal, given enough time: Her eyes don't really stay just one color, kinda shifting like Aphrodite's do to match an ideal shade for the person she's with. She's a charmspeaker, so she can basically persuade people to do what she wants with the right amount of magic and force. That's something I always double and triple check ahead of time, though. Other than that I'll try to feed you info as we go for Shawn to pick up on! :) )

Piper was early, or Shawn was late? No cell phone to check because- yeah no, monster radar. No nearby clocks within view either. Nothing for it but to wait.

She was still not entirely sure how she got roped into this in the first place, honestly, waiting to be picked up for a date with a psychic detective.

Actually, no, that wasn't ENTIRELY true. Just a month in town and she'd managed to get herself into trouble with the law, charmspeaking the wrong individual and having it come back to bite her, that was how it had all gotten started. She'd ended up at the station to be booked and then... well, no better way to put it than Shawn Spencer happened. Everything had spiraled so quickly from there that even a reflex honed demigod had trouble keeping up with it. That seemed to be how the man rolled, though. Showing up, inserting himself into her business, and then the next thing she knew she'd been mixed up in the mortal side show.

The deal itself had been pretty simple, though, for which she was grateful. Go undercover, fake this whole courtship deal with the "psychic", and she'd get a pass on the not-exactly-a-crime she'd not-exactly-committed. If she could just keep the mortals from figuring out her secret, she'd be golden, meaning Piper REALLY had to hope that this psychic thing was bunk. He didn't really FEEL like any demigod, monster, or immortal she'd met before. WOULD she know, though? Piper wasn't sure, and didn't think it wise to risk finding out the hard way.

Pulling herself rather reluctantly back into the present she gave a glance at her own reflection in a shop window and found that she actually hoped that maybe Shawn could keep her too distracted tonight to think about how out of her element she felt, because wow. She hadn't been on a date in AGES (fake ones included) and between her passive traits and the "date appropriate" outfit (an uncharacteristically flirtatious, breezy top, leggings, and sandals) boy did she feel like there were way too many eyes looking in her direction. That sort of attention still didn't sit well with her even after all these years, still couldn't be low enough below people's radar to feel comfortable out in such a bustling, public place. Sinking in between the boardwalk planks was starting to sound better and better the longer she waited, assuming Shawn ended up flaking for some reason. Her fingers gave the railing a nervous drum before she gave the crowd another scan.

(ooc: I figured I'd give you room to let Shawn do his thing, since I wasn't sure if he'd make a stealthy or flashy entrance or something else entirely. Let me know if you'd like for me to change anything, or add more on!

I AM SO HYPE for the movie, oh man! Christmas season can't get here fast enough! I'm very glad you brought him out! I need to find time to rewatch too, it's been a few months and I'm missing it.)

[Okay so I'm thinking maybe her village is aware of the legends of some horrific Jotun that lives in the part of the forest that never seems to thaw. They've decided that their run of bad luck/unseasonable chill is because of this so decide 'hey why not try appeasing the magic monster with a bride?' If she gets eaten instead? OH WELL no more weird girl filling their kid's heads with nonsense, win/win!

Loki honestly has nothing to do with it but is legitimately alone up in his castle so is bored and lonely (he'll never admit that part! >T) so figures what the hell.]
