I really love the idea of a open musebox/dr, but I wish the wayswithwords mods had a mod post that had IP logging turned off and was anon enabled, like the bakerstreet mod post...

Unpopular opinion here, but I'd really like more one-night-only, quickfire-reply memes along the lines of TFLN. It doesn't have to be that one meme, but that type of meme where you can knock out several threads in one night and then do something different tomorrow are brilliant.

I also really like memes where the characters can communicate textually IC, but maybe that's just because I have a character who really suits that format.

Someone writes their character in a situation. A meeting, murdering things, whatever. Replier throws whatever the hell they want at them.

Ballpit meme. Haven't seen that one in a while.

I'd be a bit bored if all the memes were like that, though.

It might be nice if they had anon enabled in the main wayswithwords com too, so we could continue threads which one side was anon there, for instance.

Hi, we have just fixed this. Apologies too all on this oversight, I have been ill and it was just a fail on my part to change the settings when the journal was created. Anon on, IP logging off on the contact posts. We won't be allowing anon in the main comm, however, due to the level of wank tendencies in the RP community these days. The point of the comm is to have discussions/scenes/interactions between muses, not anything anonymous.

I know as well as anybody else that real life always comes first. But, I think one of the things that annoys me the most is when a person lists 'OTA' and yet, doesn't reply to you. I know in the past that sometimes I might skip over a couple tags cause I'm not sure what to reply with, but in the end I always reply to everybody who tags my posts.

Guess, it just annoys me when I am trying to rp with new people and they ignore my posts.

I personally don't mind if the main wayswithwords comm isn't anon enabled, since anon-y RP threads tend to be short in my experince, and people can always take them to their character journals or something if they get really long or something.

when i write 'ota' in my post, i guess i mean it as shorthand for 'open to all in theory', because i can't say in advance which replies i will and won't engage with. some characters, canons, players or prompts just won't catch my interest, but to expect people to write an exhaustive list of who/what they won't reply to beforehand is unrealistic.

not every character/player is going to click with yours, and that's something you need to accept, because you'll have much more fun with rp once you do. nobody in a meme has a duty to play with anybody they don't want to, but nobody should allow their feelings be hurt by the opinions of other people who aren't interested in playing with them, either.

tag around and eventually you will find players and characters who click with yours... and in the mean time, don't waste energy worrying about the ones who aren't the right cr for you.

It's annoying and disheartening. I know. But you gotta consider the following.

- It's a meme and no one is obligated to tag back.
- Instead of telling someone they don't like their medium/mun/character/etc., some people prefer to say nothing instead of coming off in a way that might be perceived as "assholish."

I've actually never had someone outright ignore a tag from me. I tend to look for characters that would fit well with my own or are in a similar demographic (ex: highschool students) or those that I've seen respond to people in other memes. This has resulted in me only tagging animated/game characters and staying away from LA (mine are all animated). But, eh. Maybe one day.

No bother at all :) We're happy to take any and all suggestions on what we can include or way to implement things. Ultimately, though, we want a place where RP variety can be played out with as little restrictions as possible so it has the luxury of feeling like a musebox/DR. We just hope to strike up more interest so people want to utilise the comm!

Oh, and how is the advert + DR post pimping meme thing coming along?

I'd love to try the DR out, but it'll probably be more fun if many muns were trying it out all at once, IMO...

This is true, I didn't think to look at it that way to be honest.

Oh, my feelings were hurt I was just curious is all as to why some don't tag back to certain people.

We were trying to think of the best format for it. Whether it be something like a muse soapbox where muses can post whatever they like, and conversations are stuck up from it like that, or whether we put it into one mutual place like a big party where people can meet that way.

Kinda off topic, but I don't get the point of OTA if it's in a meme with no romance/smut option. People are posting in an open meme. Why not assume it's okay to tag them unless stated otherwise (closed to ____)?

But yeah, I get you. It seems rare to find someone who'll keep a thread going. I guess some think another's character won't mesh well with theirs or something.

Sometimes you think you're open to anything and then you get a tag that tells you otherwise. These things happen.

What about both?

You could make a big party post in the DR where all the characters can mingle and have fun, and have other people pimp their own posts as well.

In this case, it might look something like this, I think.

That sounds excellent. I can see how it would all work now. I might put it all together and get the posts up in the next few hours. It can't hurt to see how it all goes!

I know. Then just tell them you aren't going to reply and why. Or if that option shows up in another meme, put 'no ___' or whatever.

The last time I PM'ed someone to tell them I wasn't interested in threading with them I got a massive flood of flame PMs in my inbox. No thank you. It's easier just to not tag back.

And yes, I can put that in my next meme, but it's a bit late to retroactively add it.

I am usually all for honesty, but i think that the internet is for delicate feelings and people generally try to err on the side of nice-ness rather than honesty. maybe because you dont know if you are talking to a 13 year old or a 25 year old?

people also dont want to look picky or high maintenance (e.g. no x, y, or z)

If someone doesn't put OTA in the subject line, does that mean they only want tags from castmates?
