It was hardly the first time Xenovia had convinced Irina to help her try to sway their captain for some purpose since he'd recruited them, and surely she'd known that what had started out with them teaming up on him would get turned around before too long. It had been only a matter of time before he formed a duplicate to turn the tables on them, and things had definitely escalated.

[ noctis has never exactly been the rebellious type.

mostly because he's under the all-too-watchful eye of ignis scientia, who has an almost supernatural sense for bad behavior and tends to nip all bad behaviors right in the bud, but also? it just seems... unfair. his dad already has more than enough on his plate, with the war and the effort it takes to maintain the wall, and it feels like the very least that noctis can do to keep himself out of trouble. after all, the last thing his dad needs is to have to worry about a son who goes doing things he shouldn't, right?

and for the most part, noctis has managed to stick to that plan. sure, he's still not great about eating his vegetables and he doesn't read all the reports that ignis shoves in front of him, but he stays out of trouble. no drinking, no drugs, no wild parties. no dumb teenage stunts, and no stupid relationships that might bring on some kind of scandal to the crown. (it probably helps that he hates parties, and that he's never really been good enough at the whole socializing thing to do any kind of dating.)

then he meets nyx, and it's like every wild impulse he's ever shoved aside comes roaring back all at once. after all, there's probably some rule about royalty screwing around with members of the kingsglaive -- and even if there isn't, he's older, he's a guy, and he's a refugee. any one of those facts would probably be enough to keep the tabloids busy for weeks, but...

here he is, straddling nyx in the front seat of his car and fooling around like they're a pair of teenagers too dumb to know better.

It really was no secret that Cassidy had a soft spot for Tulip. He'd made it pretty plainly obvious in how he pursued her. He had said he was too old to be playing games, after all, and it wasn't often that people, especially pretty young ladies went out of their way to help him, even after sorting out just what it was. It was just part of life now, and right now, he was way too high to even begin to feel anything but raw, very alive desire.
