I will not be shamed for my love of overwrought high school drama and hormonal escapades

Your teen years are important, formatively speaking. You're trying to find out just where you belong and what kind of person you're going to be. This already daunting task is complicated by the soul-sucking demon known as high school. If you weren't having a hard time before coming here, you certainly are now.
Add into this mixture raging hormones, and baby, you've got a misery stew cooking. But it's not all bad! Sometimes high school crushes can be sweet, and the occasional high school relationship lasts.
So whether you're too cool or distracted for romance or always on to the next good looking stud, come on down and try to navigate the romantic labyrinth that is the halls of Bakerstreet High.
HOW TO PLAY
- Comment with your character and preferences. Needless to say, aging down and AUing is welcomed and probably necessary. Have fun with it! Feel free to include a short blurb about your character's Bakerstreet High self. Are they popular? The class clown? A drifter? A band geek?
- Comment to others.
- Use the RNG. Or not.
PROMPTS
- childhood: You've known each other forever. Puberty has changed a couple of things, though.
- friends to more: Best buds, right? Can you let a little crush get between you?
- always there for you: You've seen the person you've liked for forever get hurt time and time again, always offering a shoulder to cry on. You should make your own move, unless you're content in the background forever.
- bad boy/good girl: Or bad girl/good boy, or bad boy/good boy...there's a certain appeal.
- the innocent: They're the delicate little pure flower of the school. Do you genuinely want to date them or is this a mission for corruption.
- smitten puppy: You know the type. Always following the object of their adoration around. Don't you want to sweep them off their feet and show them there's other fish in the sea?
- the ice queen/king: You have to defrost them.
- 10 things: You were challenged to ask them out or bed them, but shit got real.
- never noticed anyone before: You'll never be into all this love and sex stuff. Your classmates are crazy - wait, who's that? Your face is flushing. Why?
- never noticed: This person's always been there for you. You feel silly that you've never noticed.
- the unattainable: Is the school's hottest cheerleader or football player really all that high above you?
- follow you until you love me: It's not stalking! You just happen to be in the same place as them...all the time.
- hate at first sight: You hate their guts but you can't stay away.
- sudden hottie: Were they always so bangin', or did taking off their glasses or pulling down their ponytail do that much?
- too shy, too blind: you're too shy to tell them how you feel. you also don't see that they clearly feel the same.
- kindness counts: They were kind to you, which is a pretty big deal in high school especially if you're an outcast, and you can't help nursing an even bigger crush.
- sudden attraction: You're the kind who falls instantly and hard.
- always on the move: You change crushes or dates like underwear. Maybe this one is the one, though.
- nerd love: Both of you are social pariahs. At least you have each other.
- into older people: He or she is the kind of teen who's so mature and always dating college students or even real adults. But you can change their mind about their peers, right?
- differences in social classes: One of you is popular, the other so not. Can you make it work, or will the popular part be ashamed?
- opposites attract: Sometimes, the weirdos get the hottest babes.
- awkward confessions: You want to get your feelings out into the open - curse your voice cracking.
- asking you out: You'll totally borrow your dad's car to take them to the movies. Or here, here's your letterman jacket. Go steady?
- parents don't understand: Your parents want to keep you apart or are too tragically uncool.
- dates: If you have to go dutch at McDonald's, it's sad. Maybe stay-at-home dates are better.
- prom: Limos, tuxes, wasted money, oh my!
- slow dance: The DJ popped in that best of the 90s love songs megamix CD. Now's your chance.
- sadie hawkins: The Sadie Hawkins Dance. Get your khaki pants. Oh oh oh. Girls ask the guys. It's always a surprise.
- sneaking out: The most romantic times are past curfew.
- detention: As the Breakfast Club taught us, it's possible to find love in a hopeless place.
- experimentation: It doesn't count if it's above the belt, right? And finger definitely don't count.
- over the top: You're that couple that is always on the PDA or being schloopy and goopy romantic. Don't be that couple.
- first kiss: Pucker up.
- first time: Is it romantic and slow or in the back of someone's car?
- drunk: Drunk confessions and attempts to make passes are ill-advised.
- fight: High school couple fights can be deadly. Avoid at all costs
- the volatile couple: Speaking of, there's always a couple that seems to be fighting 24/7? When they're hot, they're hot, when they're cold, they're glacial.
- finally together: You're the will-they-won't-they of high school, and when you get together senior year, the whole class will give you a standing ovation because FINALLY.
- long term couple: When did you guys get together? Probably like middle school or something. You've always been together.
- hide who you are: Unfortunately, even these days some people make it necessary for those who don't conform to the "ideals" to hide their true selves.
- break up: Statistically, it was bound to fail.
- after graduation: Can you guys make it work after you lose the common ground of school? This can be challenging if you're going to be living in different places.
- WILDCARD

He even kept close enough of an eye on the student body that he noticed the new kid. They had one class together, but otherwise did not interact with one another. Not that he let that stop him as he spotted the other sitting on his own in the cafeteria. Walking up to the table, he gave a warm smile.]
Katsuki Yuuri, right? Is it okay if I join you?
no subject
How on earth was Jeile aware of him?]
Ah-- O-Of course! [Yuuri hurried to pull his bag off the chair, stuffing his phone and various notes of forgotten homework into it, all the while trying to hide the flush of color on his cheeks behind his hair, his too-big glasses.] Please, go ahead, sit, thank you.

Flashing another smile, Jeile sat down and offered his hand in greeting.]
We have never been formally introduced. I'm Jeile Eucharistia, but everyone just call me Jeile. [Except the members of his fan club that liked to add prince to it all. A bit extravagant, but he allowed it. It didn't harmed anyone and that was the important thing.]
no subject
... You already knew that. [That didn't help his blush much.] Heh. Sorry. Um. [What to say to one of the most popular guys in school? How do normal people converse again?] H-How are you?
no subject
That awkwardness were adorable, he knew it. Yuuri acted a lot like a startled animal. Jeile could not help the small chuckle that slipped over his lips at that incredible mundane question. That and the weather really was the go to subjects when you had no idea what to talk about. Well he could be nice and toss another conversation ball.]
I'm fine, thank you. And I hope I did not disturb you in any important researched, you looked so very concentrated.
no subject
gorgeousnice as Jeile calling him by his given name wasn't an unpleasant one, though.] Ah, Yuuri's fine, thank you.[That chuckle made a delightful little tingle go down Yuuri's spine. Jeile's voice was nice. He was so confident...] Oh no, it's fine. It's just skati-- just sports. Sports news from Japan. [A pause.] Do you like sports?
no subject
I'm currently taking akido and fencing lessons actually. I'm not a big fan of team sports as I think everything just turn into a big mess when they run around, but I have nothing against sports where you can see the individuals skills.
Are you practicing any sports, Yuuri?
no subject
Yuuri hesitated a little, wondering whether Jeile would think he was a total dork for what he was about to admit, before deciding to take the plunge.] ... I'm a figure skater. Junior ranking. I-- I compete all the time, so I can qualify for the Olympics once I'm a senior.
no subject
The confession from Yuuri made Jeile's eyes sparkle and he looked interested right away. No judgement here.] Figure skating? Wow, that is amazing! I can barely stand on a pair of skates and you even compete. Now I'm a little bit envious. Could I watch you at some point?
no subject
[Then, realizing he was babbling and almost bragging all about himself, Yuuri reeled himself in and added, sheepishly:] Maybe I can watch you fence at some point too. I bet you look really cool doing it.
no subject
I would love to come watch you. Both when you practice and when the tournament comes up. I'm sure you will be doing great.
Oh, you would like to see me fence? Well... [Jeile picked up his bag and dug through it, fishing up a folder that he started to look through.] I have this invitation left to a competition this weekend I will take part in. If you have time you could come watch then.

[It was with both a twisting sensation of nerves and a pleasant flutter in her chest that Amelia carefully climbed out of her bedroom window and began to slowly descend to the ground, her grip on the drain pipe strong enough to make her knuckles turn white. She did not want to fall after all, slowly shimmying her way down until her feet touched the grass. Once she was sure her legs were no longer shaking, she retrieved the bag she had tossed down earlier, taking one last look at her house before hurrying down the path and opening the back gate, disappearing into the night.]
[If her dad came home early and went up to check on her, she'd be dead. Sure he was a pretty permissive parent, but he did have a few rules, and this was the first time she had ever broken one, namely sneaking out past her curfew, which she did feel guilty about. That being said, it was for a good reason, and in her mind it was justified. Far better than sitting at home doing nothing, especially with the message she had received from a classmate about seeing a certain someone hanging around downtown so late.]
[She had thought that it was over, that he wouldn't do this anymore, hang around with the wrong crowd and possibly get into trouble again. It had taken a lot of work to get the school to allow him back after that last suspension, and even more work by Amelia herself to convince Tetsuo to start attending classes once more instead of skipping. Sure she had some leverage due to how long they'd known each other, and her pleading had likely softened him up, but it still hadn't been an easy road with how much he needed to catch up on, even with her helping him as much as possible. Still, it truly seemed like he was doing better, they were getting closer again, and that fondness she had always held for him had grown stronger and stronger.]
[However, it seemed like temptation had come calling, hence Amelia rushing out upon being contacted with the tip off Tetsuo was not only heading to some of his past shady hangouts, but he was in the company of some of his equally shady past 'friends'. Well, their party was about to be crashed, as the girl hastily scanned every side street and alley until she spied the group. No she did not care that the crowd he was talking to might not take kindly to her barging in and disrupting their fun, calling out to him with a tone that showed her full mix of emotions at that moment finding him there; anger, disappointment, sadness and heartache.]
Tetsuo!

I-I would love to. Absolutely. Thank you.

[While he would have loved to go on talking with Yuuri the school bell rang, signing that it was time for class to start again. A real pity since he had enjoyed their conversation. Well there was nothing to do about it really, besides standing up and gathering his thing.]
I really enjoyed talking to you, Yuuri. See you around later. [He gave a wave as he walked to class. This one they did not have together or they could have talked for a bit longer.]

The days slowed to a crawl as the weekend approached. Yuuri was much too shy to approach Jeile at school, seeing as he was pretty much always surrounded by other people, friends and admirers alike. What would they think if a nobody like him tried sidling up to Jeile Eucharista, like he belonged?
So he kept to himself, as he always did, until the day of the event. Yuuri had pulled out all the stops, fidgeting for hours about what to wear - jeans and a button-up, that wasn't too formal, right? How formal were fencing events, anyway? - how to do his hair - gelled back, like he did when performing - whether or not to wear glasses - God no, contacts all the way - and he actually felt kind of good about himself for once. He hoped Jeile would notice. Now all he had to do was wait for the competition to end so he could find him afterwards, eagerly waiting to either congratulate or console him, depending on the outcome. The performers all looked good, all in uniform with their rapiers. Yuuri couldn't see which one of them even was Jeile from his seat in the sporting hall, but he was excited to watch nonetheless.]

And so the weekend came and Jeile headed off to the club to prepare by getting ready and warming up. The other members joked with him about his skill, but his klutzy nature. One of the most skilled in the club, but making amateur mistakes which cost him a spot on the podium. Jeile only laughed at that, knowing it to be true. He did those kinds of things all the time.
The warm up came to an end and the spectators slowly came trickling in. He could see Yuuri in the audience and damn, he looked hot today. Yes he knew that Yuuri was handsome, but wow, not to that extent. His heart skipped a beat and he had to pull himself together in order to not let his concentration slip. This was not the time to daydream! He would show how good he actually were.
His first opponent he beat fairly easily and it was by that point he realized that he had not told Yuuri what competitor number he had as they did not call out any names and only the numbers given to them and his hair was tied up in a tight bun to ensure that it would stay away from his face. Well that was a mistake he could not fix now. Yuuri would just have to wait until he took off his mask and that would be either when he lost or won it all.
The next set of opponents he won over as well, eventually leading him to the final. He had not really expected to advance that far and his surprise of it cost his concentration to fail and the other got a point in. Snapping back to the present, Jeile pulled forth his full set of skills. Block, parry, thrust, opening detected, point. Not allowing any more slip ups from his own side, Jeile claimed the victory, taking off his mask, beaming with pride.]
no subject
He still had absolutely no idea which one could be Jeile, but it had to be one of the later ones, right? Yuuri had paid close attention to every match ending, trying to get a glimpse of the boys and girls behind the masks, but Jeile was nowhere to be seen. So he had to be one of the final ones. That was cool, him getting all the way to the finals. He had to have. Because otherwise, Yuuri had been ditched, and he didn't want to think about that.
Sure enough, right at the end of the final match-up, the winner undid his mask and grinned into the cheering crowd - Jeile. He looked glowing, panting and grinning with the rush of victory. Yuuri broke into a huge grin of his own, cheering with the rest of the audience, waving enthusiastically. He couldn't wait for all the hubbub to be over so he could congratulate him properly.
Half an hour or so afterwards, after medals and flowers and diplomas had been handed to the winners and participants, after parents and coaches in a wide range of proud through disappointed had said their piece and taken their pictures, Yuuri slowly made his way out onto the main floor, approaching Jeile, smiling, hoping he wasn't disturbing him.]
Congratulations, Jeile. That was awesome! You looked so cool out there!
no subject
Yuuri, you came! I'm so glad that you did. Oh, and if you still have some time to spare would you like to do something? There is a nice cafe just around the corner if that sound interesting.
[Please accept his offer, he so want to talk and someplace a bit nicer then a sports hall. And preferably after he had taken a shower since he felt kind of gross with the sweat cooling down.]
no subject
Well. At least not yet. Yuuri couldn't quite believe his ears as Jeile asked him to join him at a nearby café.] Really? [It almost sounded like a date. Almost. At least Yuuri had spent some time this afternoon dolling himself up - if he'd shown up in glasses and sweats, he never would have accepted. But for today, he felt confident enough to nod in agreement, smiling brightly.]
I'd like that, thank you. Ah, should I wait here while you get dressed?
no subject
Yes, that will be good. I promise I won't take long.
[Jeile hurried off to the changing room to take a quick shower and change back into his regular clothes. Jeans and a simple sweater that gave him a causal look that he pulled off perfectly. Hair slightly damp and wild locks doing whatever they pleased as he had not tied it back up. All in all it had taken him around ten minutes to get ready.]
I did not made you wait too long, I hope?
no subject
Not at all. Don't worry, you're fine-- I mean, it's fine. It's fine. [His face was all red again. Pocketing his phone and adjusting his gelled hair, wishing - for once - he had his glasses to hide his blush behind, Yuuri gestured aimlessly towards the exit.] Ah. Lead the way.
no subject
You look really handsome today, Yuuri. Any special occasion or just feeling like breaking the school-look?
[He led the way outside, feet guiding him without having to think too much of the directions. The café was close by and he had been to it before. Nice and cozy and with a bit more private tables. Perfect.]
no subject
Yuuri cleared his throat, trying to reel himself in.] Ah, th-thank you. I, um... I just felt like I should look nice today. Wouldn't want to show up looking like a total slob, right? [He laughed softly, trying to ease into feeling less awkward. No way was Jeile flirting with him. No way.]
... You look really good today too.
no subject
[It was Jeile's turn to have his cheeks dusted in pink. He had made no effort at all when it came to his clothing today since he knew he would get sweaty and be in need of a proper shower later on.]
Ah, we are here. [Jeile held up the door for Yuuri, waiting for him to step inside before walking in himself.] Order whatever you like. My treat.
no subject
Are you sure? Thank you, that's really sweet. [Walking inside the café, Yuuri glanced quickly at the menu written on the board behind the counter, and at the variety of pastries behind the glass next to the cashier, a disinterested looking teenaged girl. It wasn't a themed café as far as he could tell, the coffees and snacks were all standard - albeit delicious - affair.]
I think I'll just have a cup of coffee and a Danish. Thank you.
no subject
Tea and the strawberry pastry for me, please.
[Jeile payed the cashier, saying a polite thanks as the tray with their order got handed over to him. He moved to sit down at a table by a window, but still a bit screen off from the rest of the café.]
no subject
So. Congratulations again on your victory. [Yuuri smiled, raising his coffee cup in a tiny toast.] How does it feel?
no subject
[He smiled, looking a lot like he had back in the sports hall, if less exhausted. Now if he only could pull together the courage to ask Yuuri out properly.]
Um, there was a thing I promised myself to ask you if you showed up today. [Jeile took a nervous sip of his tea.] So, I think you are nice and well... Oh, how to properly phrase this? I can be so hopeless at times.
[Locking his eyes with Yuuri's, Jeile pulled on a fully serious expression.] Katsuki Yuuri, will you go out with me?
no subject
Boy, did Jeile have more to say.
It had to be a prank. Right? It couldn't be anything else. Jeile Eucalystia couldn't possibly be asking him out right now. He was definitely pranking him right now.
Then why did he have butterflies in his stomach? Why were his hands shaking?
Yuuri's throat felt a little tight, sticky, like his words were caught and all jumbled up in there. And yes, he was definitely blushing, bright red, his cheeks distressingly hot.]
Seriously? Are you... D-Do you mean it? You want to go out with... with me?
no subject
When he did he just felt relived that it wasn't a straight out rejection. It was enough to make him smile, reaching out a hand to place over Yuuri's.]
Yes, I want to go out with you. I like you and I would be really happy if you like me to.
no subject
A billion questions were buzzing in Yuuri's head at the thought. The implications were staggering. What would happen to Jeile's social standing? Was he out? If he wasn't, would Yuuri be okay with dating someone closeted? Would he be Jeile's first boyfriend? (Jeile would certainly be Yuuri's.) What on earth did Jeile even see in him?
But there was plenty of time for answering those questions and more later. Right now, Yuuri was leaving the smiling, gorgeous Jeile Eucalystia hanging. He smiled back, shaky and nervous, turning his hand around so they were palm to palm. His heart felt like it was beating out of his chest.]
Y-Yes. Yes, I-- I like you too. A lot. I would love to go out with you.
no subject
You have no idea how happy this makes me, Yuuri. [Knowing that his feeling were returned made him feel so much more at ease and he visibly relaxed.]
You know, you are really cute when you blush.
no subject
Oh my God. [That just made Yuuri blush even more, his face surely catastrophically red by now. He didn't make such an effort to hide it this time though - Jeile thought he looked cute. He just squeezed his hand back instead.] You make me blush so much. You say so many sweet things to me, there's no wonder...
no subject
[Interesting since this was only the second time they had spent time together, but at times not much were needed to make feelings bloom. Jeile had watched Yuuri from afar and his curiosity had been lit and it in turn had turned into a crush.]
