The Letters From The Past Or Future Meme
Remember the Magical Time Machine Mailbox from the movie 'The Lake House'?
Yes, it's like that - Now, your characters live in different times/eras from each other, and are recieving letters (Or E-mails, or Vid-mails, etc) from the future or the past!
[How To]
1. Post as your character. (Please write down the name and canon/fandom of the character in the subject line, and also if they're canon, AU, crossover or OC, etc. Please also write down preferences, scenarios, etc in the comment box)
2. Another character tags yours. Congrats, now your character is communicating from somebody from their past or future!
3. Thread, tag and have fun!
[Sample Scenarios]
1. Romance over the ages
2. Somebody is trying to warn somebody of something that will go wrong in their future.
3. Dear God, is that your long dead (in your time) father on the phone there?
4. You can fly in the future? Massive cultral shock is the theme here.
5. Something Else
[What is the gadget that connects the past and the future?]
1. Letters (Or a Magical Mailbox)
2. Texts/E-mail
3. The Telephone
4. A Mobile Phone
5. A Computer/Tablet of any kind
6. A Magical Artifact
7. Something Else
[How many years are the two characters separated by?]
1. Less then 1 year
2. 1 to 5 years
3. 5 to 10 years
4. 10 to 25 years
5. 25 to a 100 years
6. More then a 100 years

John-
Going out. Would have texted, but service is completely unreliable at present.
Careful of the carpet. Have someone coming to clean.
Might be tomorrow before they come.
Will be back on Thursday.

Well, Sherlock Holmes is prowling the flat while other people do the heavy lifting, volleying between absently gesturing as to what goes where and spitting sarcasm. She's waiting until the sofa's in place, and then she'll throw herself down and dictate from there.
Or she would, if she weren't distracted by the note. A man begins a query with Ms Holmes, where should this--]
Shut up.
[She sniffs, crumples the note and stows it in her pocket, and turns on her heel to sneer at someone for not knowing where to put her taxidermy badger.
Later, just before she leaves, she slaps a note on the door very casually, as if doing it that way makes it any less bizarre.]
John didn't get your note. Unreliable service is the least of your problems.

DS verse?
Sameth and Ellimere are returning from school in Ancelstierre. Could you get to Barhedrin Fort and meet them there? My duties are keeping me busy, and Touchstone is in Navis.
Sabriel
Always.
I can get as far as the Wall with no difficulty. The logistics of nannying two royals who mix as well as oil and water is, however, another matter entirely. I will approach the task as one who is more comfortable with Hands and Manticores only can.
Next time, ask that cat. Ellimere never talks back to that Thing.

You're my Sworn Sword, I'm sure you can deal with two children. And those two get along just fine. [Sabriel, you may need to spend more time with your kids if you think that.]
I'll wake him up and give him fish next time I'm at the house.

I laid my hands on your sword and swore an oath of service for life in exchange for asylum -- that's not something I'm going to forget so easily. And of course I can deal with two children; it's just that my more corporal methods from my old life would be disagreeable with the heirs apparent. Bringing young Sam and Ellimere back in chains would be counter-intuitive.
Shame that never worked with me.

It's quite possible to keep children under control without tying them down. Sam and Ellimere know better than to go running off into the wilderness. Just tell them that if they misbehave, I'll hear about it. There's no need for such extreme methods.
Besides, both of them have learned enough magic by now to undo mundane locks.
