[ He had competed against Makoto in the relays before. He'd noticed the smiles, the laughter, the fun he had in winning. He had wanted that so much, which was why he even joined Rin. He wanted to race with him, give him the chance. It gradually became something a bit more than wanting to simply compete with Rin, and the want to compete against Makoto. Or watch him. Sousuke caught himself staring at times, when the two teams practiced against each other at Iwatobi Swim Club. He'd stretch himself out, paying careful attention to his shoulder, as he watched Makoto.

His eyes would linger a little too long from time to time. If Rin noticed the behavior (without, necessarily, knowing exactly what was going on), he'd nudge Sousuke with an elbow.

Practice relays came to an end that day, and Sousuke had to sit this one out. Another member of the Samezuka team had to participate for him. He made the excuse that he hadn't been feeling well, but his hand moved to his shoulder subconsciously. He was in pain today.

Everyone made their way to the locker rooms, and he changed out of his swimsuit and put on jeans, a tee, and his Samezuka jacket. He intensely watched, waited a little bit behind. It's not like they were strangers, after all.

The two teams had become quite friendly with each other.

At the very least, he could attempt friendly conversation instead of just...watching him. ]

[ It wasn't as if Makoto hadn't realized he was being watched, he simply hadn't realized by who. It seemed to always be there when they were practicing with Samezuka but as soon as he would get curious enough to look around....no one would be looking at him. The feeling would linger but then he would become focused on swimming and nothing else mattered once he was in the water.

Today was no different...only it was. It was one of the first times he felt different about the relay. Usually it was always exciting to face the others, but today just didn't feel the same. Sure the replacement was good but he wasn't on the same level as Sousuke. Not that he had faced Sousuke one on one before, they rarely if ever swam the same style.

After changing into his regular clothes, a pair of jeans and a long sleeve green shirt, Makoto made his way out with the rest of his team. They were talking and carrying on as usual, always a lively group just laughing and talking. While he had felt that feeling again of being watched, it was unlikely that Makoto would have stopped...if not for how Haru had stopped, staring off at someone or something not in the group. Seeing the change in his friend, Makoto stopped. ]

Haru, is something wrong?

Oh! Yamazaki! Hi-wait Haru where are you going?

[ Frowning Makoto watched the other continue walking. He was waved off by the others, after Nagisa had given him a discreet push towards Sousuke. It was sort of obvious that the taller athlete was wanting to talk, even if Makoto wasn't exactly used to it. He was always up for making new friends and honestly he had always thought Sousuke was a pretty nice guy...for all that he and Haru hadn't always seen eye to eye.

Rolling his eyes at his team with a fond smile, Makoto looked back at Sousuke, giving him the same warm smile. ]

[It's been happening for weeks now. At first he thought it was some accident or whatever, but no. Every so often, like every other day or so, Keith will find something new in his room. A small gift- a trinket from the previous planet they visited or something entirely different, or a letter of some sort. They're usually brief, but their intentions are clear. He had ...some kind of secret admirer.]

[Only- there's only seven of them on this ship and it was clearly SOMEONE on the ship, but Keith didn't know who. He ruled a few out on principle. It probably wasn't Pidge, DEFINITELY wasn't Lance or Coran. Shiro wouldn't be the sort to be so indirect like this, same with Allura so that left ....Hunk? He could see Hunk doing this sort of thing. It made him kind of anxious honestly because he had no proof and he had no way of really finding out and he didn't think he felt the same way. He didn't want to hurt him. Hunk was a very good friend, after all.]

[In the eve of another letter, another gift, Keith finds himself at his wits end. He gets an idea and just goes for it. As much as talking to Lance could be frustrating, he know Lance is Hunk's best friend and he could feasibly find out if the Yellow Paladin was behind this and if so, what he should do.]

[So, Keith comes knocking on Lance's door one night after dinner. He's got the note and gift in his pocket and he fidgets slightly with his gloves as he waits.]

[Lance isn't exactly sure why he had been doing this. Sure, he's had a crush on Keith since the first time he saw him, and actually spending so much time with him now as a friend (? He hoped so) and teammate just poured gasoline onto the fire. He's convinced himself that there's no way Keith would ever feel the same about him, however. And afraid of rejection and making things awkward between them, he went the only route he could think of for venting his feelings safely.

Leaving dumb romantic notes and gifts in his room when he wasn't looking.

That Keith would eventually inevitably narrow it down never really occurred to him, for some reason. All Lance knew is that he was going mad with this crush that was way too deep to just be a crush anymore, and he had to express it somehow, even if anonymously.

He's a little surprised when he finds the red paladin at his door one evening.]

Uh. Yo, Keith. What's up?

[He already feels awkward doing this. He takes a deep breath.]

Hey. Do you have a few? I need to talk to you.

What...?

[Oh. Oh no. He hadn't figured him out, had he? Lance clears his throat and tries to look as calm as possible before stepping out of the doorway.]

Y-yeah, no problemo. Come right in.

[Lance was probably wondering what the fuck he was doing just coming to his room like this but okay. So far so good.]

[He heads inside and stands kind of awkwardly in the middle of his room. He ...doesn't come here a lot so he glances around for a second or two while his hand slides into his pocket. He fidgets with the note before pulling it out.]

I've been getting these notes for a while from someone on the ship. I've been trying to figure out who they belong to and I've ...narrowed them down a little.

[He holds the note out to Lance for him to take.]

I- um. I think it might be Hunk. Do you know anything?

[Panic wells up in his chest when Keith starts talking about the note. Dios mio, he's figured it out. Now Lance is going to be mortified and rejected and why did he start doing this, why didn't he think about how he'd just end up being brokenhearted again--

Then Keith mentions Hunk and Lance just balks.]

Wh...what? Hunk? Hunk?! No! Holy quiznak, no! If Hunk had a thing for someone he would have totally told me, and I know for sure it wasn't him! You're not his type, anyway!

[redpaladin]

[Oh. That was quite a reaction. Keith just kind of openly stares at him in surprise. Uh- Okay then.]

What- are you sure?

[Because if not, the who the quiznak was it?]

Who else could it be?

Uh.

[Well, crap. Lance just kind of looks away, fidgeting with his hands behind his back.]

Maybe one of the space mice really likes you? Or you have a secret admirer from one of the planets we went to and they're teleporting stuff onto the ship. Ahaha, should...have Allura check on the security, you know?
