[It's the sort of game that Ignis would scold them for coming up with in mid-battle, but fighting crabs for a third hunt in a row sort of needs something fun to go hand in hand with flying across the battlefield. The next time around that Noctis gets behind a crab with Prompto, after they've given it a solid beat-down, Noctis briefly turns with a little grin on his face and reaches out -

boops his nose

- and phases across to sink his sword into another crab that was in the aftermath of taking a heavy blow from Gladio.]

Wha — hey!

[part of what makes the game fun is the way prompto always reacts — not only does he wrinkle his nose and scrunch up his face when his nose is booped, prompto jolts from head to toe and almost drops his gun. it's by some miracle (and, yes, maybe the fact that he's overreacting, a little bit, for noctis's amusement) that he manages to recover the pistol before it hits the sand, or worse, gets snatched up by an angry crab.]

Get back here!

[Somehow, it could be called completely unfair that Noctis can be at one end of the field and just as easily come zipping back - at the cost of mana, sure, but it almost feels like nothing in a fight like this. Prompto reacting is absolutely the best part about this game, and because Noctis can almost always slip out of reach so quickly, he also almost always wins. Giving Ignis a fistbump as they do a round of their own attacks, Noctis looks back over at Prompto from around another crab and gives a wide grin.]

Get back where? I was here the whole time!

[He totally saw him nearly drop his gun though, not that he's going to point it out. Hassling comes from he himself, he's not about to open Prompto up for teasing from Gladio at this point. No, this bit of fun is all for himself. Moving around, rolling to dodge another attack from the irritated crustacean, Noct hops up to his feet and swaps to his sword before he backs up a bit, just a little closer into Prompto's range.]

Should I make it easier?

[gladio barks something while prompto's unloading a round of bullets into one crab's legs, but the blond isn't listening, or even aiming at his target — he's just trying to figure out where noct is in all the fray. when noct sidles closer, prompto thinks he's got an opportunity — but, nope, one angry (or hungry?) crab takes a swipe at the air in between them, and prompto has to roll away, cursing faintly under his breath.]

I don't play games on easy mode.

[with that said, and with a crab in between them, prompto decides to do something he ordinarily wouldn't — he jumps on top of the crab, running across it to get to where noctis is; he jumps off its back as soon as it bucks —

— and, once he lands at noctis's feet, prompto reaches up to return the nose boop.]

Ha ha! Gotcha that time!

[It's irresistible, really. No one could fault Jesse for trying it with how many boops Sombra dishes out regularly. She's distracted, there's a clear shot of her nose, and Jesse's not missing out on this prime opportunity.

He reaches out and taps his finger to the end of her nose lightly.]

Boop.

[Angry, definitely angry. Rolling away again and twisting around as he gets to his feet, hearing Prompto make that reckless call about easy mode, Noctis laughs before he almost warps away again - almost. No, he's distracted because he can see his blond friend doing a mad dash across a crab. Starting, moving to take the monster out and hesitating to step back enough space to make room for Prompto's landing, he grins widely.

Sneaky, and totally reckless. Enough that Ignis is scolding them from yards away, do be careful with all that fooling around, and Noctis pays no heed. He's quick to reach out and boop Prompto's nose, almost taking all the finesse out of making a run around for a fresh start to cause distance, but then he's gone. Warping away to stand on a rock overlooking the last crab, Noctis leaps down on it with a ferocity to finish the fight before Prompto can get him again!]

Last one, last chance!

[Sombra was too busy staring at the screen in front of her, her eyes quickly following the code as she tapped the commands she needed, just one more line-

When Jesse touched her nose, she quickly turned to him with an annoyed look in her eyes.]

I could bet anything you've been waiting a long time to do that shit.

[nose booped again! augh! prompto yelps audibly, shaking his head in a way that makes his hair bob like... well, like a chocobo's butt.

when he sees noctis going for the last crab standing, prompto decides he's not going to let him have the satisfaction of ending the game. he bends his body low as he dashes, kicking up a fine cloud of sand behind him as he runs (ignis, ever fastidious, keeps his distance) —

— but it's all in vain. he can't keep up with the prince's warping on foot, after all, and by the time prompto is close enough to attempt a point-blank shot (he wasn't going to run the risk of accidentally hitting noctis by shooting at a distance), noctis's sword has done its work on the final giant crab.

with sand-dusted clothes, mussed hair, and slightly pink cheeks from all the running, prompto heaves a sigh and rests his gun over his shoulder.]

Alright, alright. Your kill, your win. You win! Noct wins the nose-poking contest.

[ there's still work to do. there is always work to do. though they have won the day, the battle continues and after some celebration, leia is back to work. with a datapad in one hand, she idly twirls a loose brown tendril around her finger, pausing only when she feels a strange sensation on her nose.
