holy crap it wasn't that hot out last week. Now suddenly the mercury's skyrocketing and you have to find some way to beat the heat

i WHERE:
001 PLAYGROUND - man that asphault is a killer. Better try and find some cover quick
002 AT HOME - Ac's broken. it's too hot. And opening a window seems to have no effect.
003 POOL -Ah the perfect place to cool off... and check out some babes ;D

005 LOCKED OUT - Crap. Where did you put your keys. Did you REALLY manage to lock yourself out on the hottest day of the year?

001 SHADE - Not perfect. But it will have to do..
002 UMBRELLA - Hey. It's not girlie if you don't want the UV rays to get to your skin
003 FAN - Hey, it serves the double purpose of cooling you down and making weird alien voices!

iii WHEN:
001 MORNING - Is it really even worth getting out of bed if it's this hot out?

[Some days Steph is really envious of people like Kara, who don't have to worry about pesky things like getting shot, and can therefore run around fighting crime in nothing more than a skirt and a belly shirt.

Steph has to worry about getting shot, which means she has to wear body armour. Normally she doesn't mind too much, but right now, in the middle of summer when it's still 100+ degrees even after the sun has gone down. Well--

She'd really like to be wearing anything other than her Batgirl uniform. Babs probably feels the same, which is why they're both taking a break from punching criminals to sit on the edge of a roof and catch their breath.

Steph has her cowl pushed back off her face, trying to get some relief from the heat. It's not doing much]

They have crime in Antarctica, right? I'm thinking we should relocate, you know, help out some sea lions and stuff.

[New York summers are just as hot as Gotham summers, but if Steph had to pick one, she's going to pick New York; mostly because Kate is there, but the pool at Kate's house also helps.

Even after going for a swim, it's still ridiculously hot, so Steph's gone to acquire drinks for the both of them. The cans of soda are ice cold, and she has one pressed against her cheek as she comes back to the poolside, sitting down on the edge with her legs in the water]

You're gonna have to come get this if you want it.

[meaning the can of soda she got for Kate. Isn't she just the best girlfriend ever?]

[No, she is not. Actually, she's the worst. How is Steph going to pull something like this on Kate in her own house? Why can't she just have the soda thrown to her if Steph doesn't want to walk all the way over to this end of the pool? She really doesn't want to move from the cool tile along side of the pool where she's sprawled, stomach down, cheek pressed to the floor in search of relief.]

Why?

[It feels too hot to even talk. She really has to ask her dad if they can build something to make this an indoor pool with air conditioning.]

[That tactic has to work, Steph is a pro at this. She's even got the puppy dog eyes going on in case Kate happens to look at her.

This is completely ignoring the fact that Kate was nice enough to let Steph use her pool, rather than leaving her to melt back home in her unairconditioned house]

[Nope. It's not working one bit. Oh, and Kate is looking at her, even without turning her head. She knows all of Steph's tricks and they're not going to work today. Batgirl has failed.]

You're the worst. [it's supposed to sound indignant, but she can't really work up the energy for that.

It still takes her another few moments to actually get up and walk over to Kate. As some sort of vague revenge, she puts the cold can down on the small of Kate's back, rather than giving it to her.
