[The poetry isn't his. Shiro knows he hasn't got the creativity to paint words. It's his grandfather's, composed on the spot that day for his grandmother, and, like every one of his grandfather's works, one Shiro had immediately memorized.

Sentimentality was a cultivated trait in the Shirogane household.

His eyebrows do go up a bit at the confession though and - he supposes he shouldn't be at all surprised. Sending her to his family had entailed the risk of them oversharing about him.

He doesn't regret it. Just - feels a little trepidation at what else she might have been shown or told.

He'll take cute though. He seems to remember feeling more awkward than cute at that age. He has to let go of her to hand her a plate once they reach the table but he still stands as close as if he hadn't as they go down the line.


'Cute' is probably generous but - thanks. [A pause but - no. He really does need to know.] How many embarrassing pictures of me did they show you?
