[He's somehow known that she'd go straight for the book and so he stands there, feeling a little self-conscious but smiling, waiting for her judgement when she reads it, tray in his hands.

Her smile says that he did all right.

Which has him relaxing the little bit he'd tensed and following her waved direction, sitting back down next to the beanbag, setting the tray in front of his folded legs.

Tea sounds... just about perfect on a night like tonight. It will help take the chill off him. But even more... tea with his grandfather on rainy nights, and afternoons for that matter, had been a tradition and it still filled a warm place in his soul. He was just about to pick up a cup to offer to her once she was settled when the lightning blazed -

and the power went out.

Had she saved her game before she left?

The thunder rolls next though and it fills up his chest like a great barreling wave, lifting him and resonating. He loves the thunder in his chest, love the way it pounds nagadou daiko drums through his blood and tells him he's alive.

- except Hana literally yelps and curls into herself and his eyes go wide. It's not that dark, that he's going to miss something like that, and he's got a knee under himself immediately, automatic readiness to move on a threat.

Except - its just thunder.

She's scared of thunder.

Gentle, slow, he slips his arms around her, tucking over her a little, chin over the top of her head. It's much more physical than they've been before and its probably too personal but -

it's a protective move and a protecting one, sheltering her, not from a storm that can't hurt her but from a world outside and whatever it brought with it. Gentle but firm he tucks her into his chest and hums, low, low in his throat so it vibrates though him and into her as well.]

Not ready for that, huh?
