Gabriel does prefer nicer clothing; after all, his aesthetic standards are high, and one gets what one pays for. He has an expected standard of living at this point, and the program is what keeps him there for fear of him going off on one of his little benders. Never breaking the rules outright, of course; never quite forcing their hand, but he can manage to make life unpleasant for a while. Easier to keep him happy.

And in return, these little unpleasantries. Still, he'll smile and listen and let them talk to him about his paintings, about how nice they look together, about the latest news from the Capital, and she'll be there at his side to keep him from biting someone's head off for being too ignorant to breathe and to do the job herself in a way that keeps theirs.

He's thinking this as she adjusts his tie, offering a deadpan look from blue eyes down his nose at her. "Is that what I am now?" He's never been a proper gentleman. But he'll also never say no to her, and so he opens the door and steps out, offering her a hand to help her from the interior.
