Once Charles closed his eyes, the younger mutant did the same, breathing deep along with him. It did help lessen his anxiety, but not entirely; the feeling lingered in the depths of his mind - a constant reminder of its ability to resurface at any given point in time. Hopefully, it would not hinder them in any way.
Strangely enough, the breaking past the barrier of his mind wasn't nearly as uncomfortable as he'd thought it would be, especially since it had been willing this time. Their exchange in the library had been more of an accident than anything and it had surprised him to the point of not wanting to pry with any questions, but there had been that lingering hint of curiosity afterward. Now, as he rested in Charles' lap, his entire mind laid bare at his hands, Kurt felt an odd sense of tranquility flow through him and something else that he would later remember as absolute trust.
