COMPROMISING POSITION MEME

Up until now, there's definitely been some tension between you two. Whether it's more romantic or flatly sexual is, understandably, dependent on the personalities involved, but the fact remains that you both have been dancing around the issue for whatever reason. Why do why say "up until now?" Well, it's simple. Somehow, either through accident or otherwise, you've end up in what can only be considered a compromising position: you're in the other's lap, you're on top of them, chest to chest, almost kissing, so on and so forth. This leads to the ultimate snap in your tension - you just can't hold it in any longer, even if you try to get out of this situation unscathed. The direction you move in, again, depends on the people involved, so things could take a turn for the awkward, the cute, the romantic, the desperate, or even the steamy. What's for certain is that whatever's between you may never be the same...unless you guys, in typical will they/won't they fashion, can repress and pretend nothing ever happened. Or at least look into each others' eyes and have a moment. romantic: A sweet, long kiss and perhaps some long-held confessions are in order. confessions: Actually, speaking of confessions, they might just slip out without anything sweet...oooor your body reacting to this new position may be all the proof the other person needs to know something's up. desperate: Oh, fuck it. You might never have this chance again and you've been wanting them so badly, you may as well snog at least, no matter what. steamy: The smut option!

There were some friends in life you were destined to fight with. It was never that Nariko didn't love Bert, because she did. They had been through enough together that anyone stupid enough to so much as insult Cuthbert Allgood would find their lives made an ultimate hell, because that's what friends did for each other - fuck, that's what family did: They looked out for each other. Nariko Lunae was nothing if not penultimately, dumbly loyal.

But good gods could he irritate the shit out of her, he seemed to be the only man in the world that could take her from utter serenity to livid outrage in just a few seconds. And, lately, that seemed to be happening left and right. Everything he did was annoying, grating on her nerves until she couldn't help snapping at him with a ferocity that he really didn't deserve. Roland, in all of his odd wisdom (which was partially dumb luck, she was convinced), just let them go at each other until she'd outright smacked Bert. Roland let her feel awful for it, he let her stomp off without apologizing the way she should have, he let her stew in her own anger until Kaine insisted everyone get together under one roof and just exist together.

Nariko moped, mostly because she was good at it and because she didn't know how to face him. Whether that explained why they happened to smack into each other right as she left the bathroom was beyond her. Moping had felt like an appropriate shower activity, one that kept her away from the movie Kaine wanted to watch, from Alain's tempered expression and Roland's smoking. She really hadn't planned on ending up underneath Cuthbert, her hands braced oddly on his shoulders out of some habit, leaving her towel a little useless and her hair a mess.

This is the most speechless she's been in the twelve years that they've known one another. Their friends are downstairs and Nariko stared up at him like an idiot, uncomfortably aware of his body and still gripping his arms. .... Since when did he have nice arms? Maybe she was imagining it.

"...Hello." For a moment, he hesitates, but only a moment: then that usual goofy grin is on his face again. It doesn't, though, hide the way his eyes flick down to her body, then back to her face, nor does it hide the slight darkening of his cheeks. "Uh. If you're about to hit me again, you mind doing it on the other side this time? I think I can get some lovely symmetrical bruises that way. Nice souvenir, kennit? Make Roland jealous..."

Nariko really needs to say something, and quickly, before Bert gets into full flow. Otherwise, he won't be able to stop talking for like an hour. It's a nervous reaction of his.

But at least the jealousy was easy to pick out against the ever familiar desire to knee him in the gut. It didn't make any sense because there was no reason to feel jealous of Roland at all, the guy pretty much just was. And yet the idea irritated her and dug under her skin in just the right way, and it made her blink up at him. More than that, it made something click.

"Fuck."

She leaned up on one elbow, eliminating whatever little bit of space existed between them. "... Sorry. About hitting you and all."

"I could call you fat as well, if that'd help?" He gave her a winning smile. It wasn't possible to take him entirely at his word, though. Not when the fabric of his jeans was quite definitely tenting more than it had been.

She immediately made it worse by leaning up to him. All of a sudden, he was very, very aware of her nakedness, of the heat of her close to him, of her hand on his arm... He cleared his throat, his blush darkening. "Sorry for being enough of a shithead for you to hit me?" he suggested, after a moment, but he sounded uncharacteristically uncertain. "Uh. I should let you up, huh?"

Had he ever apologized when it wasn't a full moon or an easy prank? She couldn't remember.

"Kind of doesn't feel like you want to, Bert." She moved from his arm to his middle, trying to pull at him without coming off as forceful, proof of her own uncertainty. "Which is fine. I don't - really want you to let me up." As long as no one thought to suddenly come up the stairs this was alright.

And to make that entirely clear to him, and maybe to solidify the fact with herself, she leaned in and kissed him. It was small and cautious and uncertain, not at all like her but, hey, she'd nearly thrown a brick at the guy less than two weeks ago. Probably best to start kind of slow!
