[She'd continued the gentle massage, happy as she felt him sink into her arms as he grew more comfortable. She'd actually closed her own eyes, feeling quite relaxed herself, when she heard his question. She didn't stop, but there was a brief pause just after he spoke.]

Hmmmm, well I've heard Telara use the phrase "friends with benefits" before? [She laughs nervously, probably because she has NO idea what that actually implies. Either way, it does little to cover up her nervousness, because it's a question she'd spent some time dwelling on.]

[Her friends would tease her from time to time when they'd call or chat, and they certainly used a specific term. She'd always staunchly denied it, though her excitement over those talks and his trip betrayed her real feelings. It was something she'd never given much though to before meeting Atsushi. But he didn't see her as a freak. He'd called her pretty, even! And even more important, she felt at ease around him in a way she'd never experienced before. It was more that just shared experiences and bonding over food and walking around their homes. There had been... a connection. She truly felt that.]

[And she'd only grown to like him even more as they continued to talk. The burst of nervous anticipation she felt before they spoke, that meant their relationship was more than just a simple physical attraction. Didn't it? But she'd never expressed those feelings before now. What if he didn't share them? She bit her lower lip, and her hands moved from giving a massage to pulling him into another hug.]

The time we've spent together has been some of the greatest I've ever known. I... I care about you a great deal. [She looked down, then took a deep breath and looked at him once more, looking directly into his eyes.] We might live half a world apart, but... for my part at least, I know it is more than just friendship. It's something that I never thought I'd experience.
