Izzy didn't know how it had happened. Well, that was a lie. She knew exactly what had happened. When Clary had been facing the choice it had seemed so easy...not to condemn someone that you care about to become a vampire, but with Alec in the same situation Izzy hadn't been able to muster up those same thoughts. All she had been able to think about, knowing what was happening to her older brother, was that she couldn't lose him. She didn't want to let him go. Alec was the one person that she knew, without a doubt, would always have her back when it all boiled down to it.
The fact of the matter was that her brother was a vampire now. It was all said and done, and over with. Isabelle knew her older brother. She might not have been his parabatai; she didn't have the bond with him that Jace had, but she knew her older brother. She could imagine what he was going through, even if she couldn't feel it, and she didn't know for sure.
Alec was now, technically, a downworlder.
That didn't change the way that Izzy felt about her older brother. Nothing could change that for her, no matter what was said about him by members of the Clave, their parents, or anybody else. The middle Lightwood sibling would never pull away from her brother, no matter what. He needed somebody and she knew it, no matter what he was...shadowhunter, vampire, or whatever. She cared too much to just cut him out of her life. She couldn't fathom the thought.
So, that was why she stood where she did now...in front of her brother the Clave, their parents, and any and everyone else be damned. Her heels clicked slightly as she took several steps to approach him, a soft look written on her face. "Hey, big brother." The shadowhunter managed a slight smile, hoping that he wouldn't run her off, chaser her out, or even kick her out because he wasn't ready to talk. She knew he was going through a lot and she didn't want to leave him alone to deal with everything all on his own.

"Are you ready to talk?"
