I DO WHAT THE VERSE CALLS FOR
She wonders how Howard would like his, if he could. She wonders how far away they are from him being able to interact properly with his surroundings to begin with. She refuses to think about whether or not her personal interest came from him or from the fact that her work as a whole is a personal interest. When she gets back to the station, the door to her lab is open, and she hears someone scribbling something on the whiteboard. |
Morning Erin –
| Not Erin. Not any of the Ghosbusters. He is there, not in the least bit translucent, and he seems to be happily writing away a formula that will most definitely grasp her attention once she has gotten over the immediate victory of science over nature and reason. |
We've done it.
| She sounds breathless at first, and the coffee tray is put down and immediately forgotten about in the wake of her excitement. |
Mr. Howard Stark, we've done it!

Tessa and Cassidy went way back. She'd met him the way she met most people--when somebody was about to die. In fact, that was how most of their subsequent meetings came about, and it hadn't taken long for them to figure out each other's secret, but it didn't matter. Not really.
Of course, Cas spent a lot of time on the run, and Tessa was still married to her work, so they couldn't always be together. But more often than not, Tessa's work would lead her right back to Cassidy, and for a little while, it would be just like old times.

There was no "violence" in his ghostly ways. He had returned to Stark Mansion after his death, and while he at first had tried to contact the real world of sorts, there had been no one "sensitive" enough to pick up on what he was trying to project, the few times he gave it a bother to try. Mostly, though, he kept to himself, in what once had been his office and rarely used anymore.
The Mansion had been closed for years, never sold, but not in use either, until there was talk of it finally being sold. In some ways that had been upsetting to him. This was his home, after all. This was where he had spent some of the best years of his life, so when people came to start looking it over, to evaluate its worth and all, he had tried to reach out to them. To tell them that no, this was already someones. Someone lived here, and that they couldn't just sell it without his permission. What it had lead to was a series of events he could never have thought, bringing him from the mansion, to the lab of a somewhat mad scientist, though one who over the brief time he had. Been in her possession, one might say, he had come to admire with reverence.
It had been strange the first time she had released him from his "housing", and doused him with a spray, and then subsequently gaped as he had materialised in front of her. The expression, at least, had been somewhat mutual as he gaped at her gaping, asking quietly "can you see me?" which earned a nod, but then she had frowned and scrambled, so it seemed the effects hadn't lasted. Since then it had been a long, hard, partnership of sorts as she worked to reformulate her concoction, with him giving bits and pieces of advice here and there, when she had doused him with enough to keep him visible, and able to talk for more than a minute.
There had been a breakthrough the night before, however, with a machine left on throughout the night, to build up strength, and after the morning douse, by the time she returns to the fire station, it's all come together and materialised. Literally.)
Where's my cup of coffee, then?
(He grins at her, it's wide, his eyes sparkling a moment before he shakes his head at her.)
No, Ms.Holtzmann, you've done it.
(Because sure, he may have helped a little, given a suggestion when he could, he was somewhat familiar in bringing those in a state back, it had been mostly her work, or at least her executing it.)
But haven't I told you before to just call me Howard?

| She's still broadly grinning, and then... Then he can most likely already see the potentially bad idea hit. It's a crash test. They do them with cars. Not the most scientific method, but in a fit of early morning excitement, it can possibly seem quite reasonable.
That's the official statement. The unofficial version largely focuses on how happy she is to have gotten her not-nearly-so-new friend into a state where he is actually tangible.
Longest story very short, hopefully he isn't too excited to be disappointed by his inability to consume coffee, because Holtz more or less throws herself against him in a big hug before anything else is dealt with. |

The very nature of Cassady's existence was good mixed with bad. Sometimes really good mixed with REALLY bad; a man bestowed with near immortality and the kind of label that brought all the viciousness of humanity out, it was sort of inevitable. But among all the terrible things, there was Tessa. Tessa, who was hardly human herself, who dealt with humanity's frailties on a daily basis and didn't shy away from the other half of the coin of his life.
It had been a few years, this time, as happened from time to time. A shame, of course, but he knew better than to try to grasp anything too tightly by now. Didn't always end the best, for anyone.
Granted, as he regarded the current situation, that was probably putting things lightly, but they were what they were.
He watched the man in front of him, the shabby man with a wooden stake and a silver cross and Latin on his tongue like he was some kind of demon, and rolled his eyes. A sideways gaze towards the woman nearby, or at least where he guessed she'd appear, and the words that followed were more for her benefit than the hunter's.
"So, which d'you think you're here for, luv?"
no subject
She smiled wryly as she surveyed the seen upon which she had appeared, wondering if Cas knew she was coming, or if he'd only hoped. She was pretty sure he Lain-spouting hunter was going to try and take advantage of the vampire's apparently divided attention, but that rarely went well. Especially sice the shabby man was clearly rattled by her sudden appearance, babbling like a man possessed.
"Depends how the next few minutes play out," she said, "And if our friend, here, is smart enough to run while he still can."
no subject
"Oh, I doubt he will, they never do. No matter how much I warn 'em beforehand. Always have to try to get the last word in. Right, you scummy bastard?"
He grinned at him then, like they were old friends.
"Could you quit the sermonizing though? Just sort of boring, and I can tell you right now it's not going to do you any good."
At that, the man steeled himself further, gripped his tools tighter and advanced. Cassidy couldn't help the eyeroll.
"Alright then, come on."

If appearing as the goddamn Grim Reaper didn't put the fear of God into a man? It was his funeral.

"You... thank you. You look great," She replied lamely. "Sorry I'm late... Curtis had a breakthrough and I had to make sure it was right. Did you ever feel like you life was a dream and you never wanted to wake up?"

He took a step forward. The hunter took a step back. Another, quicker lunge, and he scrambled even further backwards. The laugh was unavoidable, out before he could clamp down on it, but then what was the point in worrying about it?
"Boo," he commented, just the right amount of soft and menacing, and the idiot turned tail and ran.
Once he was gone, for sure, Cassidy turned towards Tessa, the grin softening, more friendly and glad rather than intentionally intimidating.
"Well that went a hell of a lot better than I was expecting. Sorry to ruin your quota though."
Re: Felicity Smoak|Arrow | OTA
Malcolm has to take a second to think when Felicity walks in front of him. He might be able to conceal his reaction, but he was still a man and Felicity Smoak was beautiful. He chuckles. "All the time," he admits, "I never expected to be where I am now as a matter of fact."

"Oh, don't worry," she said, opening her arms to him. "I'll see him again. He's just moved back a few places in the queue. Right now? I just want to see you."

The hug. Well. He didn't see that coming, that's for sure. Maybe he was expecting her to touch his arm, to poke him. Maybe to shake his hand in a formal greeting, but women were bolder these days, he supposed, though the hug was still welcomed, and happily. Even for him, it was something of a moment.
One of the things that had been strange in his vapour form was the lack of feeling anything at all. Cold, heat, weight, wind. But now he could, and her heavy, warm weight is the best thing he could have started out with. He could smell, too, which was something he hadn't realised how much he missed until now. But because of it he tucks his nose against her neck and inhales deeply, and well, he's not about to let go until she is.)
You're a genius, you know.

"I'll take it. The last time you showed up on my account was a bastard. Better this way, you ask me. Even if I'll have to worry about that arsehole later."
He pressed his nose to her hair and inhaled deep, squeezing her tight in the process.

She hoped the shabby man would have a change of heart, and leave well enough alone. But for the time beingm she was content to put it from her mind. Who knew how mug time she'd have with Cassidy before she had to take another job? She just wanted to make the most of it--and maybe make up for some of what they'd lost.
"It's been too long."
no subject
"Not that I'm protestin' here, of course. How long d'you think we've got this time?"
He hated the fact that it always happened like this. That there was always a timetable; sure, it kept things interesting, and made for a good time every time because of it, but even so. Might've been nice to not have to worry about the ticking clock.
no subject
Or how much she missed him.
"Well," she said, weighing her options, "I suppose I ought to stick around in case our shabby, Latin-spouting friend does something stupid. And, knowing the kind of trouble that follows you, and Jesse, and Tulip, I suppose I could work out some kind of deal with the local reapers, as long as you're in town." She smiled, and arched her brows at him curiously. "How long do you think that gives us?"
no subject
Probably. Most of the time. And he wasn't quite pathetic and sad enough to put himself in that serious danger just to see her. Also probably. He'd yet to run into another of his kind, past the obvious, he could hardly be blamed for wanting to spend as much time as he could with someone who was on par with him in her own way.
So he almost visibly relaxed at her compromise, leaning down to steal a delighted kiss.
"Oh, I'm sure they'll go for it, we're far too much trouble for 'em as it is. So that's...couple weeks, maybe?"
no subject
She smiled, and kissed him again.
"And a couple more in the next town," she suggested, feeling optimistic. "Assuming you don't get sick of me." Maybe they could actually make it work.
