( ooc: ugh so sorry for my slowness elsewhere. i was out of town this weekend and came back to some other unfortunate stuffs. hopefully back up to speed this weekend. )
A Fell shadow lurked over the courtyard accented by the foreboding clouds that carpeted the sky so keenly on this day. Much like a blight that threatened everything around it, the dark robe scurried to and fro, eager to touch everything it seemed able to from the very grass to each and every tree that seemed to stand idle in the courtyard.
Such was the flurry of it's activity that it seemed to be almost electric in nature. A furious cry resounded; the penultimate declaration before the denouement made clear.
The robe ceased suddenly, on the ground. It sat up, turned to face the present and future Princess of Ylisse briefly before it drew itself up once more.
"Hey, Lucina! You look great today." A cheerful voice, completely at odds with what was transpiring prior.
Robin pushed the hood off his head and grinned, waving at her. In his hand he clutched a Levin Sword; he had been practicing in the courtyard and perhaps got too animated with it. Though with company at last, he started up to the Princess and only then remembered to dust off his robes.
"Wow, you really do look amazing. What's the occasion?"
Robin, Tactician of the Shepherds, Trusted Right Hand of Exalt Chrom of Ylisse, Brilliant Strategist lauded time and again...had forgotten the date and the event.
"Thank you for the compliment but Sir Robin, why aren't you dressed? Don't tell me you forgot what today is, festivities are going to start in an hour." The princess chided in a short tone, she did however have a look of pity as she realized just how hard he had been practicing seeing how dirty he was.
Perhaps if she handed him off to the royal maids they could work a miracle...yet at the same time it was just so very much like him to just go how he was at the moment. Looking around quickly to make sure there was now one around to see either of them, she quickly took his hand and started to lead him to where she knew his quarter's to be.
"I don't mean to be brazen but this day is very important to father and you should at least get cleaned up before everything starts."
[ It had been another covert intel-gathering assignment for the military along with Shepard and the Normandy crew that took Kasumi out of the country and out of contact for about a week or so. While she usually tries her hardest to stay out of anything remotely political and especially out of military ops, Shepard had pulled the Crew Card on her. And the "You're the best thief in the business--no one else can pull off what you can do" Card--that one gets her every goddamn time. And while usually she would have slipped out of sight and out of mind for the assignment's duration without so much as a goodbye to anyone else, this time she makes an effort to be more mindful of her other friends.
Well, if leaving a cryptic voicemail explaining that she'd be "Out of the country for work," counts as trying. Which, in Kasumi's book, does--it's still better than dropping off the radar without warning, right?
The assignment succeeds with almost no hitches (because, honestly, expecting everything to go perfectly is amateur) -- and it's only on the way back that Kasumi allows herself the opportunity to get back into contact with people. Duv is, much to even her own surprise, one of the first she reaches out to, and he gets a message that simply reads: "I'll be back by tomorrow evening." She's hoping she won't have to wait long to see him again once she's returned, but, you know, she has to seem cool about it. Once they've returned and have properly tied up loose ends with the military, the crew splits off, each member seeking to return to their residences, bone-tired and probably really jet-lagged.
Kasumi, however, finds herself making her way to Duv's new apartment, almost without meaning to. She tells herself it's because teleporting all the way back to Maurtia Falls from Heropa in her state would be pretty much death, and that Duv's place is closer; but she would have been able to use the military's Porters, and moreover that's not the real reason she's going there. Truthfully, she just wants to see him--there's something safe about Duv's company, and safe is what she needs after spending a week elsewhere doing god-knows-what. Before she can second-guess herself, she's already at his door, softly knocking on it with her kunckles. She... just wants to see him, she finally realizes, although the smell of chocolate wafting through the hall and evidently coming from the other side of Duv's door is almost distracting her from the thought. ]
[Heya! For the thread, would you like to make it an AU where Jean is studying to be a Jedi, play it straight with them being in a setting that keeps their original universes, or would you like it to be an X-Men flavored AU? I'm also open for any other ideas you may have!]
