the weakness meme

the weakness meme

We all have that little thing that either turns us to mush, or is a temptation we can never resist, or something that totally leaves us vulnerable for exploitation. Whatever it may be, we can either enjoy it or despise it, or maybe use it as a strength if you're clever enough.

Below, you can roll for a type of weakness and/or a role to play, or make up your own scenario based on canon, fandom, or anything, really!

NOTE: Depending upon the weakness, the situation, and other factors, there might be some triggers. It is advised that you plan ahead or look into the tagger's journal so you know what their preferences are (and to have more insight to the muse!)

oo1. comment with your characters
make sure to put names, series, & preferences somewhere!
you can use < ! > sans the spaces to make the comment "blank"
oo2. reply to others in character
oo3. use the rng and enter 1-6 for a type
then roll 1-6 again for a role
oo4. play out what happens—anything goes!
oo5. profit? oh yeah!

[ Oh. It's not that Derek is so emotionally stunted that he doesn't get why people talk. He even sometimes considers opening up and maybe letting a little bit of the frustration and anger bleed out, but it's dangerous, to let that sort of vulnerability hang out. Maybe Stiles doesn't know that.

Something about the situation makes Derek laugh, a short bark of noise that is very, very wrong. He bites it off quick, wants to pull it back out of the air the very moments it's out. It's just... what the hell does he know about helping? Everything he's done up to this point has been a joke. ]
I don't think we could make it worse, so there's that.

[Normally? Normally Stiles knew to keep that vulnerability close to his chest. It's why he didn't talk to Scott about his problems, it's why he doesn't talk to his dad about it. It's just... safer, to keep all those issues to himself. At least when it's just Stiles he's only hurting himself.

That laugh will make Stiles glace over at Derek. That's... the first time he's heard Derek laugh, and it was an honestly awful sound. There's nothing happy about it- not that there was anything good about the night.]

At least there's that. In a night full of everything going completely wrong, at least it can't get worse. [His head is right back in his hands.]
sourwolf: (look at that earnestness.)

[personal profile] sourwolf 2012-07-31 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
Well. [ Derek leans back a second, picking out the time from the computer laying on the counter. ] Nine minutes to midnight. Tomorrow will be a fresh opportunity.

[ It's unclear even to Derek if there's a thread of positivity in that statement, or if he means fresh opportunity for further disaster. Probably not -- he's not one for glass-half-full pointlessness. He closes his eyes, more a long blink than an attempt at rest, then shakes exhaustion's hold on him with a roll of his shoulders. ]
imalwaysright: (Fuck)

[personal profile] imalwaysright 2012-07-31 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
Great, at least we'll have nine minutes of nothing going wrong.

[He closes his eyes and keeps them that way. Just breathe.

He's pretty sure Derek means that tomorrow will probably be just as big of a mess as today is. Stiles hopes not, but at the rate things are going? Totally plausible.]

A fresh opportunity for disaster, right?
sourwolf: (uh fuck that.)

[personal profile] sourwolf 2012-08-01 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Stiles is usually less sincere in his doomsday prophesying. Derek watches, a different silent attention than his normal brand. It's not hard to pick up the exhaustion and frustration, those are pretty normal surface emotions for Stiles, but there's something else underneath it.

He steps closer, arms crossed defensively low across his abdomen. On any other day he wouldn't care, wouldn't have time to care, but the sadness weighing down Stiles' slumped shoulders is a distraction from his own internal angst. ]

Did something else happen?
imalwaysright: (Little red hoodie... yeeeaaaaaah)

[personal profile] imalwaysright 2012-08-01 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
It's- [His dad got fired, all because of everything Stiles chose to do. He can't say it's nothing. He can't belittle his father like that, especially when it's so obviously his fault.

His fault. Everything that's happened to Scott, that's on Stiles. If he hadn't dragged his friend into the middle of the woods they wouldn't have to deal with this. His dad would still have a job.]

... Yeah. [At least he can admit that much.]
sourwolf: (short skirt and a long jacket.)

[personal profile] sourwolf 2012-08-01 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Illuminating. [ The sad-scent increases, and Derek is once against reminded how much he hates this sort of thing, how bad he is at it, because his method of coping probably won't work for Stiles.

There isn't anything in the vets office to kill, anyway. ]
Anything I need to worry about? Starting to feel like I'll be needing all the advance notice I can get.
imalwaysright: (Life is so sigh worthy)

[personal profile] imalwaysright 2012-08-01 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
[It's sadness and guilt. There's just so much guilt there. And usually he can just bury it and pretend like everything's fine. But today's been a train wreck and he can't. Even if he'd really prefer to stomp down the guilt and the sadness.]

No. It's my dad. I doubt you've got anything to worry about from an ex-sheriff.
sourwolf: (pic#4378798)

[personal profile] sourwolf 2012-08-02 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
[ Ex-sheriff. It takes Derek a second to squirrel out the meaning of that, but forgive him; it's been a long month.

And when it does hit, Derek can't help the long, vicious sounding sigh or the hand that scrubs furiously over his face and through his hair. Because that does worry him. Stiles might not be his friend, and the sheriff most definitely was not his friend, but there was potential in the connections linking them all, and having Stilinski as a possible future ally was promising. ]

Shifting power is always dangerous, Stiles. What happened?
imalwaysright: (Steely)

[personal profile] imalwaysright 2012-08-02 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
All the crap I did finally caught up to me- to my dad. [Kidnapping Jackson, continuously showing up at scenes of crimes, stealing police vehicles- something had to give eventually. And that ended up being his dad's job.

The worst part is Stiles couldn't have avoided any of that. He needed to do all of it. Everything he tried to do was to keep people safe. And all of it failed in the worst possible fashion.]

He was fired today.

[personal profile] sourwolf 2012-08-02 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
[ There's not much Derek can say -- less he can do, but he does get it. There's always bystanders who get caught up in these things, and sometimes they're family.

It's the worst when they're family. Derek almost apologizes, catches himself before the words can get past his tongue. He's always hated empty "I'm sorry"s, has heard to many of them to add to the pile. Instead he stands quietly for nearly a minute, thoughtful and a little sympathetic.

Then: ]
You want a ride home?
imalwaysright: (Might end up cutting off his arm)

[personal profile] imalwaysright 2012-08-02 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
[Stiles is quiet for a moment, thinking it over. He's not in a good state to drive, all he's really feeling is guilt, guilt, and even more guilt. His mind's obviously elsewhere, and he really doesn't need to add car accident to his list of screw ups.

Thankful, he's thankful that Derek didn't offer a sorry. It wasn't like the words could change anything.

He'll get up and nod.]

... Yeah. I could use it.
