[Tetsuo grinned, revving the engine as she climbed on, waiting only for her to get a secure grip around his waist--then tearing out of the parking area, and swerving casually around onto the street. The helmet would do her a lot more good in avoiding being spotted than trying to talk him out of riding like a maniac, although she couldn't be faulted for trying, at least. And she had perhaps taken the edge off some of his moving violations stunts, but he still cornered at speed and refused to wear a helmet, himself, his permanently messy hair blowing in the wind.
Between his agility on his bike and the tendency of most cops to avoid high-speed chases into his neighborhood just for traffic violations, there really wasn't much danger of them actually getting caught, if someone actually tried chasing. Today, though, he was really much more interested in getting back to his place quickly than in leading a chase, and he rode with a minimum of flashy recklessness--at least, until they were near his place and away from law-enforcing eyes, where he could whip the bike around into a skid, drifting it to a stop just where he wanted it, in front of the abandoned building he'd claimed. To his credit, it was pretty much the fastest trip to the Old City you could hope for.
